Oregon-Idaho Reconciling United Methodists (OI RUMs) will meet Saturday, October 14, 2017 St Paul’s UMC - 11631 SE Linwood Ave - Milwaukie OR 97222* 9:45 am – Gather and greet 10 am – Introductions 10:10 am – Centering led by the Rev. Terri Stewart 10:15 am – Program: Bystander workshop This training will introduce participants to proactive ways to be a supportive presence in racially or socially difficult circumstances. Led by Rev. Stewart (PNWAC Elder) using the peace circle model, the training will enhance our understanding of how to intervene in ways that feel safe and doable by providing skills to prevent and reduce harm. 12 noon – Our usual fantastic potluck luncheon 1 pm – Business session 2 pm – Adjourn for safe travel home

We, the Reconciling United Methodist of the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference, in order to embody “open hearts, open minds, open doors” will: (1) help Oregon-Idaho United Methodist Churches and ministries be places of welcome and safety for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) persons and become more inclusive in their day-to-day life, language, witness, and teaching; (2) provide resources and support to local churches and ministries to help them discuss, develop, and publish statements that proclaim their welcome to all persons, specifically every race, nationality, age, gender, social condition, ability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, previous faith experience, and questioners; and (3) state clearly that we are not leaving the UMC and that we will find ways to promote unity.
