TAS Unit Council Jan 22, 2014 Meeting Minutes
Opening: The regular meeting of the TAS Unit Council was called to order at 1:00 pm in G124 by Dean Saiff.

A. Announcements The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Seung Sup Kim (TAS Rep) gave the report on The Annual Scholars Day (formerly called Poster Day). This year will be held April 30, abstracts are due Feb 24. Each school may have one poster and one oral presentation as selected by the Dean. There is an award of $100 per school. This event does not conflict with the Symposium, which will be held April 16. A discussion followed.
B. Committee Reports
Academic Adv Council- Amanda Beecher gave the report.
ARC there was no report but Emma reminded the unit that a new rep needs to be selected for next year. Rep must be tenured and available on Wednesdays mornings for meetings. A discussion followed.
C. Promotions:
Letters of support were read for the following candidates for Associate Professor: Seung-Sup Kim, Sarah Carberry, Jay Carreon, Donovan McFeron. For Professor: Emma Rainforth. All candidates were endorsed by the unit in a closed ballot vote.
Other Business: The Dean gave an updated report on the construction. The Adler building is unlikely to open in September but he will keep us posted. The offices on the first and second floor will move to new or a temporary office in May. The TAS office will move to G300 temporarily.
There was a discussion of online vs. paper evaluations with regard to tenure and promotions.
