Unisex Lacrosse Drills Self Wall Drills

The foundation of quality lacrosse players

All drills must be performed with both hands. Any wall will work, but a smooth concrete wall at least 10 feet tall is the best Stand about five yards from the wall. Perform this routine 4 or 5 times a week for 15 to 20 minutes and your stick skills will improve a great deal in a very short period time.

Drills:

Right hand quick stick – 50 times Repeat left hand. Right hand – 1 hand catch & cradle Repeat left hand. Right hand (1 hand only) quick-stick-50 times Repeat left hand. Right hand catch & face dodge-50 times Repeat left hand. Split dodge throw right, catch right Repeat 25 times Split dodge throw left, catch left Repeat 25 times Quick stick – change hands on every toss while ball is in air. Repeat 25 times Cross handed 50 times each hand Right side arm after hard fake Repeat 25 times Left side arm after hard fake Repeat 25 times

Rebound Drills A friend can replace the rebounder

If you are serious about being the “BEST LACROSSE PLAYER YOU CAN BE” it is time to get serious and developing your stick handling skills.

To do Dedicate one half hour per day to completing two sets of drills.

Week one Drill set A will be completed on M. W. F. Drill set B will be completed on T and R.

Reverse the drill days for each seceding week –

Week two Drill set B will be completed on M. W. F. and Drill set A will be completed on T and R.

Drill Set A Scoop and Pass

At a distance of 10 yards from the rebounder distribute 12 balls approx. 3 ft apart

Right hand

1 Position yourself 5 yards behind the ball with Crosse in your Right hand – run full speed and scoop ball to your forehead and pass to rebounder before you take a second step . Attempt to catch rebound and quick stick 2) Now run full speed away from rebounder scoop through next ball turn and pass to the rebounder. Look for quick stick – REPEAT PROCESS 12 TIMES

Left hand

1. Position yourself 5 yards behind the ball with crosse in your Left hand – run full speed and scoop ball to your forehead and pass to rebounder before you take a second step . Attempt to catch rebound and quick stick 2. Run full speed away from rebounder scoop through next ball turn and pass to the rebounder before you take a second step. Look for quick stick – REPEAT PROCESS 12 TIMES

Note -- first 12 scoops and passes with right hand - second 12 scoops and passes with left hand -- scoop at full speed –Bring head of stick to your forehead or shoulder – continue with a quick pass be alert for rebound. Repeat Left / Right for one half hour

Move back from a few yards when you feel comfortable

Note: All key games are won on picking up lose balls and making quick accurate passes. An average lacrosse player will always use their strong hand in key games. You need to develop confidence in both your left and right hands

Set B

Quick Stick drills

1. Right and left hand – 2 sets 20 0n each side A. At 10 ft Crosse in right hand position Step with your left leg toward rebounder, complete an overhand throw , catch the rebound or throw on the right side with soft hands. One cradle and repeat the process.

B. At 10 ft Crosse in left hand position Step with your right leg toward rebounder, complete an overhand throw , catch the rebound or throw on the left side with soft hands. One cradle and repeat the process.

2. Right to Left. Left to right 2 sets 20 each A. Square body to rebounder or partner. Throw right, catch right, switch to left throw left, catch right etc. the catch is a quick wrist snap (no full cradle)

Catching

3. Backhand catch 2 sets 20 Body squared - throw right handed at an angle to return ball to your left side, rotate crosse around and catch ball on the left side, pull back to right side quickly and throw again -- repeat the process with a left hand throw

4. Switch Hands Body squared throw right, switch crosse to left hand. Catch left, Throw left, and catch right. Etc.
