Regional Coordinator ACTIVITIES SUPPORT PROGRAM APPLICATION FORM

The Society for Military History encourages Regional Coordinators to design and sponsor initiatives that fulfil our goals to promote the study of military history, support SMH member activities, and expand membership.

Conditions and Instructions for Application:

 Applicants must be SMH members. SMH members who wish to request funding must initiate their application through their Regional Coordinator. The Regional Coordinator will forward the application to the SMH Vice President (Jennifer Keene) for consideration.  All activities requesting SMH funding must benefit current SMH members and encourage the recruiting of new members.  SMH will co-sponsor all types of events save for payment of speaker’s honoraria. The amount of support is normally $500 or less and cannot exceed $1,000, as funds are limited.  Regional coordinators will transmit all funding applications to SMH Vice President (Jennifer Keene), with copy to Executive Director Robert H. Berlin.  Applicants are required to insure that SMH receives public acknowledgment for its contribution in their advertising, event programs, and/or other appropriate means.  Applicants must insure that SMH membership brochures are distributed at the activity.  Once approved, the applicant will coordinate reimbursement/disbursement of SMH funds with Executive Director Robert H. Berlin.  In order to be eligible for future SMH support, successful applicants must submit a written report on the activity and use of SMH funds to the Vice President and prepare an article for inclusion in The Headquarters Gazette (submit photographs and any flyers, advertising materials).

Applications MUST complete all information on the form beginning on page 3 below, including a written explanation of the activity to be supported by SMH funds and how the SMH will benefit, a detailed budget of how SMH funds will be used, and an explanation of sources and amounts of other funding sources supporting the event.

Applicants should submit their application at least two months prior to the activity.

Completed applications must be addressed and emailed to the appropriate Regional Coordinator (see list on pages 2-3 below).
