PROSPECTUS FOR POST-GRADUATE COURSES

FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2016– 2017

1 The college offers the following Post-Graduate courses under Choice based credit system(CBCS) Stream with effect from 2015-16. N o of seats-20

2 1. M.Sc. (HOME SCIENCE) Food Service Management & Dietetic- 3 2. M.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship) 4 1. CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO POST-GRADUATE COURSES: Admission to Post-graduate courses will be restricted to the residents of the Union Territory of Pondicherry only. However 10% of the seats in each course shall be filled on the basis of merit without any preference to residence of the candidates. a) Common Criteria for admission to P.G. Courses: 1. The candidate should have passed the relevant subject as main at Degree level. 2. Both Allied and Main subjects will be taken into consideration for calculating the percentage of Marks. However the internal valuation marks, if any, will be ignored. b) Criteria for admission to M.Sc. Food Service Management and Dietetics: 1. The student should have studied B.Sc. Home Science or Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics or any science subject approved by the Pondicherry University. 2. The student should have secured a minimum of 55% (Fifty five Percent) in the Main and Allied subject. In the case of OBC candidates the minimum marks is 50% (Fifty percent). There is no minimum for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Challenged. c) Criteria for admission to M.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship) 1. The student should have studied B.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship) or B.Com. Or B.Com. Office Management (Vocational) or B.C.M. or any other equivalent course approved by the Pondicherry University. 2. The student should have secured a minimum of 50% (Fifty percent) in the main and allied subjects. In the case of OBC candidates the minimum marks is 45% (Forty five percent). There is no minimum for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Challenged.

3. RESERVATION OF SEATS: a) The following reservations shall be made for admission to all the courses, subject to the revision by Government: Sl. Backward Class 34% (a) Most Backward class 18% (b) Other Backward class 11% (c) Extremely Backward class2% (d) Backward class Muslim2% (e) Backward tribe 1% For residents of the Pondicherry Union territory who produces the required certificate issued by an Officer of the Revenue Department not below the rank if Dy. Tahsildar.

3. Remaining 50% 10% To be filled purely on the basis of merit without reference to Nativity / residence. 40% purely on the basis of merit from among the Natives/Residents of the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

II.HORIZONTAL RESERVATION: 1. Physically Challenged 3% * For residents of the Pondicherry Union territory who produce the required certificate with 40% disability from the Competent Authority.

2. Children/Grand Children of 4% * - do - Freedom Fighter (FF)

3. Ex-servicemen and widows 3% * - do - /Wards of EX-servicemen/ Defence Personnel/Paramilitary Forces (EX)

4. Candidates who are excellent 1% * As in Para C in Sports (SP)

5. Students from Rural Institutions 15% * Applicable to Students who have Continuous study of five years immediately preceding the qualifying examination in the Rural institutions ( See Annexure I) ------*HORIZONTAL RESERVATION- Seats reserved/allocated under these categories will become operational only if the minimum seats earmarked for each of these categories are not filled up under normal process of selection in any category b) RESIDENTS OF THE UNION TERRITORY OF PONDICHERRY: An applicant is considered as a Resident of the Union Territory of Pondicherry provided he/she is an Indian National and satisfies at least one of the following criteria: 1) Those candidates whose parents are residing continuously in the Union Territory of Pondicherry at least for five years immediately proceeding the year in which the application is made. 2) Those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination for admission to the course for which admission is sought and for that purpose undergone academic studies from class XI standard to Bachelors degree for P.G. degree admissions in a recognized educational institution located in this Union Territory of Pondicherry and having their residence in this Union Territory for Five years continuously during that period. 3) Children/Spouse of Pondicherry State Government Employees (including those on deputation from Central or State Governments) 4) Children/Spouse of Central/State Government Servants / Defence Personnel / Central Para-Military Forces/Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or substantially run either by the Central or the Pondicherry UT Administration, posted and serving in the Pondicherry Union Territory at least a minimum period of one year prior to the last date of submission of application (Vide G.O. M.S.64, Dt. 7-5-2003). 5) Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and children of Central/Pondicherry Government Servants/Defence Personnel/Employees of Public Sector Undertakings as referred to in categories (3) and (4) who died while in service in the Union Territory of Pondicherry. 6) French Nationals residing in the Union Territory of Pondicherry and covered by Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with the candidates who produce the prescribed Pondicherry UT residence certificate. Such French Nationals will not be required to produce a residence certificate but instead should produce a certificate of Registration issued for this purpose from the French Consulate at Pondicherry. These French Nationals shall not be considered for admission under the quota of non-residents.

C. SPORTS QUOTA: Under the Sports quota the following priority will be given to the residents of the Pondicherry Union Territory: 1. Medal winners/Rank holders in International events. 2. Participation in International events. 3. National level medal winners: a) Senior level medal winners in National events. b) Junior level medal winners in National events. c) Sub-junior level medal winners in National events. 4. State level (Inter-School) medal winners in sports organized by Education Department. 5. Participation in National and State level sports. Candidates claiming reservation under this category should enclose the necessary certificates counter singed by the Inspector of Physical Education, Government of Pondicherry. The colleges may follow the guidelines for selection under sports quota as approved by the Government. Participation in National / State level Sports must be accompanied with evidence to show that they have been taking active part in sports consistently. Those who take part in more than one event, the highest priority they obtained in any one of the events only will be considered. Only those who take part in sports organized by Government / recognised by the Sports authority of India will be eligible. Participation upto the higher secondary level only will be considered. In case of a tie, consideration will be given for consistency/regular participation. Any further tie will be decided by taking into account the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The final authority to settle all disputes in selection under sports quota will be DIRCTOR OF COLLEGIATE AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

Note: Candidates for admission may submit the prescribed application duly furnishing all the relevant particulars with regard to residence, nativity and community without the need to furnish certificate in support of the same. It would suffice if the candidates declare in the application that all the particulars furnished by them are true and if any information furnished by them is found to be false at later stage, it render them liable for severe action. The candidate should however submit their original certificates in support of their residence, nativity and community at the time of interview.

4. PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION: a) The application forms completed in all respect and with all necessary certificates etc.should be submitted to the Office of the Principal on or before 5-8-2016. b) Applications may be handed over at the college counter or sent by registered post so as to reach the Principal before the last date specified. c) Application received after the last date prescribed by the college will be superscribed as “Late Application” and can be considered after all the applications received within the date for the particular course and particular category have been exhausted.

d) Candidates for admission may submit the prescribed application duly furnishing all the relevant particulars with regard to Residence, Nativity and Community without the need to furnish certificates in support of the same. It would be sufficient if the candidates declare in the application that all the particulars furnished by them are true. If any information furnished in the application, if found to be false at a later stage, it would render them liable for severe action and summarily rejection of the application or cancellation of the admission.

e) Intimation will be sent to the applicants giving the Registration Number, which should be quoted in all future correspondences regarding admission. Enquires will not be attended to unless the registration number is quoted.

g) Within 7 days after the last date of receipt of applications, list of candidates who have applied for admission will be displayed in the College Notice-Board giving particulars of Registration Number, Name, Category, Number of attempts made, Average percentage of marks and Courses applied.

h) Candidates will be selected for admission strictly in accordance with the prospectus and the list will be displayed on the notice-board.

i) If a candidate is eligible for reservation is also eligible for admission under open merit or resident merit the candidate shall be treated under open merit or resident merit as the case may be.

j) Interview slips will be sent to the candidates who are provisionally selected for admission to the course for which they are selected with the Time and Date of the Interview.

k) At the time of interview the candidate should produce the following certificates in original:

1. Transfer Certificate 2. Conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended. 3. Mark list of the qualifying examination 4. Nationality certificate 5. Residence certificate 6. Certificate in support of the claim for reservation under different categories – Community/ Physically Challenged/Freedom Fighter/Ex-servicemen/Sports. 7. Cumulative Health Record issued by the Students Health Officer.

l) The college will not be responsible for any postal delay in the delivery of the interview slip or any other communication

m) Candidates have to attend the selection interview at the college at their own expense.

n) After the final selection in the interview, the candidates should pay the fees immediately. No extension of time will be give for the payment of fees under any circumstances. 5. RAGGING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED:

Ragging is strictly prohibited by a notification issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi, with a penalty ranging upto 2 years of imprisonment. If any student indulges in any form of ragging, she will be summarily rusticated from the college.

6. PAYMENT OF FEES: Fees will be collected once in an academic year. The following are the rates of fees per year.

a) Special Fees for PG Courses to the College*: 1. Athletic Association Rs. 50.00 2. College Day Rs. 25.00 3. College Union Rs. 20.00 4. College Magazine Rs. 40.00 5. College Calendar Rs. 10.00 6. Medical Inspection Rs. 10.00 7. Students Medical Assistance Fund Rs. 10.00 8. Admission Rs. 10.00 9.Laboratory fees (for Science Group) Rs. 250.00 10. Fine Arts Association Rs. 25.00 11. Stationary fee Rs. 10.00 12. Caution Money Deposit (Refundable) Rs. 75.00 13. Reading Room Rs. 10.00

* Tuition Fee Rs. 250/- per year will be collected from the Non-residents. * Subject to change

b) Fees payable to the University: (To be paid at the time of admission) 1. Matriculation Fees Rs. 18.00 2. Recognition Fee a) The Bachelor’s Degree Examination Rs. 75.00 Conducted by Other Accredited Bodies /Universities In India Rs. 180.00 c) An examination conducted by Universities or other Accredited Bodies outside India Rs. 450.00 3. If a student after joining leaves the college during the term she shall have no right to claim a refund of any portion of the fee remitted except the caution money deposit. ***************
