QUALIFICATIONS:

Based on CTE License:  Bachelor’s degree AND current license in any Career and Technical Education program area AND  One year of industry-related career development work experience in business, industry, or labor within the past five years OR  One year as a coordinator of work-based learning (job-shadowing, internships, apprenticeships) in a Career and Technical Education program area within the past five years OR  One year as a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) adviser within the past five years Based on master’s degree in school counseling  Master’s degree in school counseling or career counseling and a clear license as a school counselor AND  One year of industry-related career development work experience in business, industry, or labor within the past five years OR  One year as a coordinator of work-based learning (job shadowing, internships cooperative education, apprenticeships) in a Career and Technical Education program area within the past five years OR  One year work experience in school counseling within the past five years

REPORTS TO: Principal/Director of Career-Technical Education

JOB GOAL: To coordinate student activities in Career-Technical Education that help the students make a smooth transition from education to work or post-secondary education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Section I: Career Development involves but is not limited to:

. Working with middle and high school students, faculty and staff on Career Development, Career Pathways and Career Clusters . Working with the Central Office on Career Development Initiatives . Working with students on career pathway goals and plans . Working with Work-Based Learning opportunities both on and off campus. . Serving as a liaison between school, business, industry, military, post-secondary education, work-force development, and community agencies. . Working with Career-Technical Student Organizations. . Coordinating and publicizing Career-Technical Education through various media. - 2 - Section II: CTE Curriculum and Accountability involves but is not limited to:

. Working with the Central Office, faculty and staff on CTE Performance Assessment Programs for classroom, formative, interim, and end-of-year assessments . Working with the middle school faculty and staff on implementing middle school essential standards and any additional middle school related needs. . Working with Central Office on Professional Development, Data Collection, Student Information System Management, and Technology (knowledge of CTE Hardware and Software at all levels). . Ensuring all NCDPI state requirements are completed and compliance procedures followed . Ensuring all ISS Schools requirements are completed and compliance procedures followed . Working with stakeholders to ensure current policies regarding secondary education are followed. This included Career and Technical Education.

Section III: Special Populations involves but is not limited to:

. Working with all stakeholders on identifying and serving Special Populations students. . Ensuring all Special Populations students receive accommodations . Treating all students in a fair and equitable manner.

Section IV: Professional Growth involves but is not limited to:

. Attending workshops and/or conferences, sponsored by local, state and national organizations that are relative to job performance/responsibility. . Plan and develop a Program of Work- At the beginning of each year, the Career Development Coordinator should meet with the evaluator to discuss and modify his/her Program of Work. The Program of Work is a planning tool for the CDC that lists specific goals, responsibilities, and duties. Keeping up-to-date on trends and technology.

Section V. Other Duties Assigned:

Duties assigned by the principal and/or Central Office should be discussed and documented on a regular basis.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Varies (10 months-11 month)

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel. The Program of Work will be used to determine effectiveness of the job and the ISS CDC’s Performance Appraisal Instrument will be used in evaluating the Career Development Coordinator.
