Fescue Hair Shedding Distribution

Fescue Hair Shedding Distribution

Objectives: (*Optional)

1. Identify a percentage distribution from herds in SE/NE Oklahoma to see how much influence fescue (K31) has on cow/calf operations. 2. Evaluate bull characteristics for month of hair shedding. 3. *Evaluate pregnancy rates by hair shedding score. 4. *Evaluate weaning weights by hair shedding score.

Educators will pick one/two herds (1 with Fescue and 1 without) in their county and take pictures of the cows sometime in the month of April and provide a hair shedding score. District Livestock specialists will also score the cows based off the picture and average the two scores.
