C. Gold and R. Lewis will receive a stipend to assist with SLOs. The goal is to attend division meetings for accountability and proper training.

By the end of fall semester, there should be at least one SLO assessment plan per course.

2. Reports on division SLO committees and Assessment of Student Learning Week Compton Center -- Q&A session was held on November 3. The different steps were reviewed that ECC faculty used on certain assessment tools. Approximately 20 people attended. Handbooks were distributed. The Center needs own assessment and how to retrieve data. A researcher will be hired to help with data collection. Natural Sciences -- Most departments are on track on goals. -- ASL Week: Met with division on Thursday and shared division wide issues. Student Services -- ASL Week: Three faculty members attended. Assessment completed although moving slowly. -- CEC is working on SLOs. Only A&R have done full assessment. Humanities -- Deadlines will be completed by December. -- B. Rang has done a good job with Foreign Language and submitted conversational courses in Spanish, French, and German. -- ASL Week: met on Thursday. Academic Strategies completed program level assessment and submitted it on 11/16/09. An assessment was developed for English A and B. ESL faculty at CEC submitted SLOs for all courses. Two ESL courses taught at ECC have been deactivated. Behavioral & Social Sciences -- Hold out in Economics. -- Met in October and on track. The division will have one more meeting this year. -- ASL Week: A presentation on assessment program SLO was planned by C. Gold and J. Soden although it was a no-show. Fine Arts -- Emphasis on writing remaining SLOs. The focus is to have department representation meet with adjunct faculty and those willing to participate. Division is doing well in assessments. Will wrap up 42 SLOs and stay on track.

Industry & Technology -- Will meet with team leaders on 11/17. Will confirm if department is completing SLO and on track with assessments. -- ALC Week: The ALC week went well. Adjunct faculty will be encouraged to participate in SLOs. -- Attempting to build infrastructure. Business -- D. Grogan will submit formal report what took place during assessment week. -- Have not completed all course level. Plan to clean up by November. Bob Joiner, a CEC faculty member, will be assisting. Learning Resources -- Division has met 1-2 times and on track. -- ALC Week: Had one program SLO and split in five areas. One team presented to the other groups what they have done as a sample.

J. Simon reported on Assessment of Student Learning Week: -- Focus more on core competency assessment at next Assessment Learning Week. -- Attendance was very light overall for the week. -- Low attendance at the mini-conference. Those that attended gained a lot and it was a good opportunity to receive additional training. -- There will not be a mini-conference next semester. -- Will interest in SLO dwindle since it has been an ongoing project for several years? Resistance from faculty has decreased. More connected to planning. It was suggested that administration need to use results for planning and include it in evaluation and planning software.

3. Planning the first Core Competency Assessment It was discussed in the past that basic tasks need to be accomplished. Task 1 – map or align all course and program SLOs with core competencies. J. Simon distributed an illustration of how Mira Costa College mapped out subjects in Humanities. B. Jaffe and J. Simon will provide a sample for the next meeting including instructions and format.
