Scholarship Name: The Harold A. Morlock JROTC Scholarship

Send Application to: Your Guidance Counselor (Guidance counselors will forward applications and transcripts to S. Franke at Foundation Office)

Deadline: Wednesday, March 8, 2017 – 3:00 p.m.

Background: The Harold A. Morlock JROTC Scholarship is in memory of Lt. Commander LCDR Harold A. Morlock who flew Hellcat fighters and was stationed aboard the USS Cowpens aircraft carrier in the South Pacific during World War II.

Purpose: This fund was established to provide financial support to an ROTC student at each high school as he/she pursues continued education at an accredited college or technical school.

Number of Recipients: One at each of three high schools

Scholarship Amount: Up to 1,000.00

Guidelines: a. Graduating senior from Lee’s Summit High School, Lee’s Summit North and Lee’s Summit West. b. Plans to further their education at an accredited college or technical school. c. Financial need could play a role in recipient selection. The overall attitude of the individual in ROTC activities as well as GPA and extra-curricular involvement will be of equal or greater value in the decision-making process. d. The recipient shall in no way be limited by gender, race, religion, or any other designation that could exclude an individual.

Process: The Selection Committee, consisting of ROTC instructors and LSEF board members, will review the applications and make recommendations to the LSEF Board.

Scholarship Payment: The Scholarship will be made by a LSEF check payable jointly to the recipient and his or her choice of a higher learning institution. To receive the check, recipient must send proof of enrollment to Sheryl Franke, 301 NE Tudor Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64086. Harold A. Morlock Memorial ROTC Scholarship Fund

9. How will ROTC impact your life in 5-10 years?

NOTE: Please attach two letters of recommendation from someone other than a family member or your JROTC instructors.
