Tom Banham System Leadership and school improvement have been a fundamental part of my career in education since I qualified as a teacher in 2005. Initially in my early career CEO – Hoyland as an Advanced Skills teacher, moving then in to school to school support work as a Common Academy consultant head teacher and more recently as a National Leader of Education. This Trust has allowed me to experience a plethora of schools in a variety of different contexts providing support in many aspects of school including Leadership development, Tykes Teaching School Alliance Teaching and Learning, Safeguarding and Pupil Premium reviews.

As lead of Tykes Teaching School Alliance I work closely with Local Authorities and School Leaders delivering School to School Support, either as part of the School to School Support fund or through using local intelligence to identify schools in needs of support. As the lead of the teaching school, working in partnership with the other local teaching school and system leaders, a robust offer of CPD has been developed which meets the needs of the local region, whether this is in the more traditional approach of courses or more bespoke deployments of SLEs, LLEs and NLEs. This offer also includes a well-established NQT and RQT programme, and HLTA and OTAP programmes.

Put a ‘X’ in the purple box to I was recently appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Hoyland Common vote Academy Trust, a small (currently) local MAT which has the ethos of collaboration and the sharing of best practice to ensure that all children receive a world class education. A vision that will undoubtedly fit closely with the role of TSC regional representative.
