Alpine A110 Makes Its Dynamic Uk Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed PRESS RELEASE 28062017 ALPINE A110 MAKES ITS DYNAMIC UK DEBUT AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED Alpine A110 to take to the hill at Goodwood Festival of Speed in UK action debut Historic Alpines also on display and driven throughout the weekend First deliveries of Alpine A110 in the UK expected in early 2018 Iconic sports car brand, Alpine, will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year with the productionready A110. Ahead of going on sale in the UK in early 2018, the compact and agile twoseater A110 will be seen in motion for the very first time in this country when it will take to the hill as part of the legendary Supercar Run. On display will be the very Alpine that won outright at the 1978 Le Mans 24 hour race, the triumphant Alpine A442 B. Running up the hill will be a member of Alpine’s victorious rallying heritage – the A310 – as part of the Touring Car, NASCAR, Drift & Rally group. The presence of these cars, both past and present, underlines Alpine’s fascinating and glorious history as well as providing an insight into the future of the marque with the new A110. 1978 Alpine A442 B This is the racecar that won Alpine outright victory in the 1978 Le Mans 24 Hours, with Jean Pierre Jaussaud and Didier Pironi. Its success was the culmination of five years of work, the A442 B evolving from the first normallyaspirated A440, the A441 and then the turbocharged 442. There were many wins in Sport World Championship events on the way, but plenty of heartache before Alpine’s ultimate goal was scored. The A442 B was powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged V6 that enabled it to hit a staggering 223mph on the Mulsanne straight and set what was then the fastestever lap time recorded by an Alpine at La Sarthe. On the day of its victory Renault President and CEO Bernard Hanon, who had set Alpine’s Le Mans goal, announced that the team would withdraw from endurance racing to contest Formula One. 1977 Alpine A310 The Alpine A310 succeeded the Alpine A110 starting production in 1971. Larger than the A110 and – from 1976 – with a V6 engine, the A310 had great success in French rallying as a Group 4 car, winning the French Rally Championship in 1977 with Guy Frequelin behind the wheel. 2017 Alpine A110 The 2017 Alpine A110 was launched at Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, combining the timeless Alpine principles of light weight, agility and performance. This midengined two seater sports coupe is true to the spirit of its predecessors and in particular the A110 ‘Berlinette’. Alpine returns to Goodwood to claim its position in the sports car segment, with one, singleminded promise: driving pleasure. The A110 has an aluminium platform and body, aiding in a kerb weight of just 1,080kg. Its compact size (just 4178mm long, 1798mm wide and 1252mm high), optimal weight distribution (44% front/ 56% rear) and low centre of gravity are all dedicated to agility – especially on the type of winding mountain road that made Alpine’s reputation back in the 1960s and ‘70s. The A110 is equipped with a new 1.8litre fourcylinder turbocharged engine with a maximum power output of 252hp and maximum torque of 320Nm. Combined with the low kerb weight, the A110’s excellent powertoweight ratio of 233hp:tonne enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in only 4.5 seconds. In 1902 a Renault Type K won its first victory in the Paris-to-Vienna road race, propelled by a four cylinder engine producing slightly more than 40 horsepower. It beat the more powerful Mercedes and Panhard racers because they broke down, proving very early on that to finish first, first you have to finish. In that same year Renault patented the turbocharger, something it had not forgotten in 1977 when it was the first manufacturer to race a turbocharged Formula One car. The RS01 was initially nicknamed the 'Yellow Teapot' by amused rival teams, but intensive development eventually saw it scoring fourth place in the 1978 US Grand Prix, and a pole position the following year. Within three years of the Yellow Teapot’s arrival most rival teams were also using turbochargers. Although today’s Renaultsport RS27-2013 engine is a normally aspirated V8, as required by the regulations, from 2014 it will be replaced by a highly advanced, downsized 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 featuring a pair of powerful energy recuperation systems that feed twin electric motors. These include an Energy Recovery System (ERS-K) that harvests Kinetic energy, and a second Energy Recovery System (ERS-H) that captures Heat.

RENAULT ALPINE A110 1300 WITH THE CLEON ALU TS ENGINE 1973 Renault Alpine 1100 1300 2 owner with R8 gordini TS cléon Alu engine Launched in 1961 the A110, like previous road-going Alpines, used many Renault parts, including engines. While its predecessor the A108 was designed around Dauphine components, the A110 was updated to use R8 parts. Unlike the A108, which was available first as a cabriolet and only later as a coupé, the A110 was available first as a Berlinette and then as a cabriolet. The most obvious external difference with the A108 coupé was restyled rear bodywork. Done to accommodate the A110's larger engine, this change gave the car a more aggressive look. Like the A108, the A110 featured a steel backbone chassis and a fiberglass body. The A110 achieved most of its fame in the early 1970s as a successful rally car. After winning several rallies in France in the late 1960s with the cast-iron R8 Gordini Cléon-Fonte engines the car was fitted with the aluminium-block Cléon-Alu from the Renault 16 TS. With two twin-venturi Weber 40 carburetors, the TS engine has a power tel roel: +32 498 519603 - tel pieter: +32 493 700409 - [email protected] - senator alfons jeurissenlaan 1229-1231, 3520 zonhoven output of 125 hp (93 kW) DIN at 6,000 rpm. The car achieved international fame during the 1970–1972 seasons competing in the newly created International Championship for Manufacturers, winning several events around Europe, earning a reputation as one of the strongest rally cars of its time.

For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.
