PROJECT PROPOSAL APPLICATION FORM Academic & Specialist Research, Projects, Creative Practice, Collaborations.

Canterbury Cathedral aims to support academic and specialist research, creative practice, projects and collaborations, which in turn supports the aims and objectives of the Cathedral whilst benefiting heritage, people and community.

Applications should aim to support the Cathedral’s mission and values as set out in the Strategic Plan including the development of the Cathedral as a centre of excellence for education and learning, and the implementation of The Canterbury Journey project, which aims to engage new, diverse and hard-to-reach audiences through wider learning and participation across an accessible range of disciplines and platforms.

Outcomes must evidence benefit and impact resulting in enhanced and sustainable learning resources to be used for further public engagement such as exhibitions, publications, lectures, tours, talks, presentations, workshops, conferences, screenings, festivals, performances, broadcasts and online resources and content.

Support from the Cathedral may include access to Archives and Library resources, Cathedral spaces, shared audiences, staff time and publicity. The Cathedral does not provide funding, equipment or materials and, in some cases, fees may be applied for use of spaces, staff time and additional resources brought in to enable delivery.

Requests to access the Cathedral’s historic collections including archival material, library content and objects will be reviewed by the Collections Management Group for approval and, in some cases, may necessitate approval from the Fabric Advisory Committee and/or the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England.

All completed applications will be assessed against a set of criteria as set out in the attached guidelines. Selected applications will then be presented to the Dean and Chapter for approval. Once approved, a key member of Cathedral staff will be appointed as your liaison and will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating your project.
