Spokane Sport Horse Farm 2nd Annual Fall Horse Trials October 7th - 9th, 2016 Spokane Sport Horse Farm LLC is a proud member and sponsor of many or- ganizations. We support the United States Eventing Association (USEA), United States Dressage Association (USDF), United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), as well as more regional groups. We attempt to recognize the desires and needs of the competitors we serve with our recognized shows. We appreciate useful input that allows us to im- prove your experience as a competitor. Please talk to us or even send us anony- mous feedback about what you liked (we LOVE compliments), didn't work for you, what we don't do you want us to do or provide and anything else germane to our future events. There has been debate about how and where to schedule our events. Your input is very welcome. Spring will most likely remain a three day so that we can accommodate entries. It will be moving one weekend earlier to mid May to move it another weekend away from EI event. We will be May 12-14, 2017. The Area VII council meets to discuss dates. The only option we were offered for fall was mid October. I have repeatedly suggested that is too late for our far travel- ing folks --Montana especially. I have asked to move up at least one week which places us back to back with EI. There are no other options as everything marches out at a two week interval. Could you find me and let me know your thoughts on this matter this weekend. -

During his lengthy tenure at the Vermont Summer Festival, Billy ran the event’s day-to- day operations while also spearheading the inclusion of niche offerings for exhibitors. Oakhurst Farm near Ashton, Ontario, is thrilled to be once again hosting Eastern Canada’s only Three-Day Event Clinic and Competition for Training, Pre-Training and Entry level riders from August 23rd – 26th, 2018. “Changes over the years to event formats mean that many of our riders may never have the chance to compete in a traditional three-day event,” says Ruth Allum, Oakhurst Farm’s coach and the organizer of the event. “Consequently, these riders could lose a very important opportunity to learn about the importance of true horsemanship. At Oakhurst, we are committed to the physical and mental well-being of our riders and their horses, so we are very pleased to provide the opportunity for up to 60 riders who are at the beginning of their Eventing careers to experience a traditional, long format event clinic.” A traditional long format event is different than the popular short format events because it includes a full endurance day. The day begins with roads and tracks, where horse and rider teams ride over distance at a slower measured pace to warm up for the speed portion – steeplechase, where riders ride at a fast gallop and jump obstacles. That is followed by another slower speed, roads and tracks to cool down before presentation to a veterinarian to ensure the horse is fit enough to proceed to the cross-country portion of the endurance day. “The full endurance day will help these riders learn how to condition their horses, to help prevent eliminations and injuries when they ride at higher levels,” says Ruth Allum. -
