Vestas Receives 90 MW Order Under Enel Green Power Framework Agreement News release from Vestas Wind Systems A/S Copenhagen, 01 September 2014 Page 1 of 4 Team Vestas Wind bank on mix of experience and youthful energy to get the job done The Team Vestas Wind crew will enter the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 with a good mix of experience and young talents. Australian skipper, Chris Nicholson, is banking on the tried and tested including two sailors with seven Volvo Ocean Races under their belts already – New Zealanders Tony Rae and Rob Salthouse – in his crew announced today. The pair is joined by two other crew members with Race experience, Dutch navigator Wouter Verbraak and the first Argentine to be named for this year’s race, Maciel Cichetti. Nicholson will also have plenty of new talent on board with 23-year-old Australian Tom Johnson joining Danish Volvo Ocean Race first-timers Nicolai Sehested and Peter Wibroe. To complete the team, Irish film-maker and photographer Brian Carlin will be responsible for bringing the story of Team Vestas Wind to millions of fans around the world as Onboard Reporter. Said Nicholson: “We need a crew with plenty of guys on board who know exactly what the Volvo Ocean Race is all about, guys who can hit the ground running and help make us competitive in the shortest time possible. And we also need a team that can gel quickly because this race more than ever before, will be about teamwork and making the right decisions together.” Nicholson continues, “We’re confident we’ve achieved just that with a mixture of huge experience in Tony Rae, Rob Salthouse and myself and guys who are ready to learn from them like Nicolai Sehested and Peter Wibroe. Vestas’ core business values of accountability, simplicity and collaboration are spot on for what we’re trying to achieve with our crew. If we can show those qualities under the extreme pressure of the Volvo Ocean Race we’ll do just fine.” Vestas’ Chief Marketing Officer, Morten Albæk, says: “I am very satisfied that Chris has succeeded in putting together such a strong crew with a good combination of experience and young talents from different parts of the world. Obviously, we are also delighted to give our two young Danish sailors, Nicolai Sehested and Peter Wibroe, the chance to learn from such an experienced skipper as Chris.” The line-up in full with their sailing - and human - credentials: Chris Nicholson (Australia) Role: Skipper DOB: 18/06/1969 Age: 45 Nickname: Nico Nico has competed in the Volvo Ocean Race four times. • 2019 One Design Classes and Sailor Survey
2019 One Design Classes and Sailor Survey [email protected] One Design Classes and Sailor Survey One Design sailing is a critical and fundamental part of our sport. In late October 2019, US Sailing put together a survey for One Design class associations and sailors to see how we can better serve this important constituency. The survey was sent via email, as a link placed on our website and through other USSA Social media channels. The survey was sent to our US Sailing members, class associations and organizations, and made available to any constituent that noted One-Design sailing in their profile. Some interesting observations: • Answers are based on respondents’ perception of or actual experience with US Sailing. • 623 unique comments were received from survey respondents and grouped into “Response Types” for sorting purposes • When reviewing data, please note that “OTHER” Comments are as equally important as those called out in a specific area, like Insurance, Administration, etc. • The majority of respondents are currently or have been members of US Sailing for more than 5 years, and many sail in multiple One-Design classes • About 1/5 of the OD respondents serve(d) as an officer of their primary OD class; 80% were owner/drivers of their primary OD class; and more than 60% were members of their primary OD class association. • Respondents to the survey were most highly concentrated on the East and West coasts, followed by the Mid- West and Texas – though we did have representation from 42 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada. • Most respondents were male.

Contributions welcome, send to [email protected] Hansen Hat Trick At Stena Match Cup Sweden Marstrand, Sweden: Swedish fans turned out in their thousands to cheer on defending champion, Bjorn Hansen on the way to his claiming a third consecutive victory at the Stena Match Cup Sweden final, on this occasion against Ian Williams and his GAC Pindar crew. The Swedish team has been raising its game constantly throughout the week. After scraping into the Quarter Finals on Thursday having finished Qualifying in lowly seventh, Hansen had an equally tight run through the Quarter Finals beating Team Alpari FX skipper Keith Swinton, only by 3-2. Even on 1-1 with US Virgin Islander Taylor Canfield going into the last races of the Semi-Finals this morning, Hansen claimed two races in a row to gain his berth in the finals. For today's racing off the west coast of Sweden's paradise island of Marstrand, the wind was light and blowing, unusually, from the northeast, the opposite way down the fjord to previous days. While Hansen has now won Stena Match Cup Sweden four times (his first was in 2007), he is still three short of Peter Gilmour's record.
