    What is a Boggart Hole?1 Simon Young ISI, Florence (Italy) INTRODUCTION The boggart—a word of uncertain origins (OED, ‘Boggard, -art’; Nodal and Milner 1875, 126; Wright 1898–1905, I, 326)—was once a much feared bogey in the midlands and the north of England. By the nineteenth century it had come to be associated, above all, with what might be called a ‘greater Lancashire’: the County Palatine, the south Pennines and the northern fringes of Cheshire and Derbyshire. Relative to the amount of writing that survives, most of it from the 1800s and much in Lancashire dialect, the boggart is perhaps Britain’s most understudied supernatural creature. Rowling. The composition of the text is viewed as linguistic and cognitive construal that integrates compositional plot structure, compositional meaning structure, linguistic and stylistic means of their actualization in the text. The content of the text is organized as a specific configuration of compositional plot blocks reflecting similar topics of textual situations. The coherence and cohesion of compositional plot blocks are provided by the compositional devices which perform text building and text forming functions. Compositional meaning structure is revealed via reconstruction of the conceptual metaphoric and metonymic schemas embodied in compositional plot blocks. The key meaning is represented by the megametaphor LIFE IS THE CHOICE OF A PATH, which in the text unfolds into a number of conceptual metaphors and metonymies. The peculiarities of representation of compositional plot structure and compositional meaning structure are explained through the analysis of corresponding linguistic and stylistic means and types of narration. Nama dari makhluk ajaib adalah menciptakan kata baru karena nama tersebut diambil dari bahasa lain dan juga menggabungkan beberapa kata yang menghasilkan bentuk kata baru. Pembentukan kata adalah studi linguistik dari pembentukan kata-kata dan kaitannya dengan makna. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori pembentukan kata dari (Katamba, 1995) untuk menganalisa jenis pembentukan kata yang digunakan dalam nama makhluk ajaib dalam novel Harry Potter. Menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan dan menganalisis jenis pembentukan kata yang digunakan dalam nama makhluk ajaib dalam novel Harry Potter. Instrumen utama adalah peneliti sendiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 2 proses pembentukan kata yang digunakan dalam nama makhluk ajaib di novel Harry Potter, yaitu borrowing contoh: Demens (TL) – Dementor (SL) compounding contoh: Acromantula (Acro (n) + mantula (n)). They include various types of stories like myths, legends, parables, allegories, fairy tales, ghost stories and so on. Folktales generally have religious connotations and have mythical and imaginary elements. According to Thompson, “the teller of stories has everywhere and always found eager listeners.” Goblins, the myth that originated in literature around the fourteenth century, have become one of the common characters of attraction for the writers that they survived through the fictional world over the centuries and are commonly cited figures in the contemporary works of art. This paper is a brief study on the depiction of goblins in literature. A Goblin is a mythical character that though does not exist in the real world, becomes a recurring character of the imagined real world of the authors as well as of the folktales. The fictional world regards goblins as mischievous, and demon- like and it used them as synonyms for other negative types of fairies of malicious and evil connotations. The belief in such stories was known as “nursery goblinism.” The recurring nature of the myth in literature is the proved depiction of the obsession of humans towards evil and good.
