Our usual Irish Traditional Music Sessions, our Sunnyside Singers Club, the Folk Open Sing, and the Shanty Sings all continue through the summer. In addition, TradMaD will again take place in August. There is a waiting list, but if you get on it, you might still have a chance to get in. Just a reminder that this is our July/August issue, which also has more of the Festival listings. You might want to hold onto it for a while. We have sad news. Harvey Binder passed away in June. He was a long time active member. We will miss him a great deal. See Ruth's column, below. Some of you, well many of you, have had trouble receiving our newsletter in a timely manner or even have not received it at all. We have been trying something new. We arranged for the company who prints our newsletter to send it out for us and we are working out the kinks. The first time, we sent it late to the printer. This last time, the printer sent it out bulk mail instead of first class as we had ordered. We have decided to try them again for this issue and for the September issue. If it doesn’t work, we will be back to mailing it out ourselves. If that is the case, we will really need your help. It doesn’t take long to mail with a large enough group of people, but it becomes a problem when not enough people show up. Stay tuned and let’s hope it works well this time!

We have sad news. Harvey Binder died on June 10th after a prolonged and courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease. A member of our organization for decades, he served on the Board for many years. Harvey met his wife, Alice Backer, through the club. I remember listening to them make beautiful music together Alice on the fiddle, Harvey on banjo and guitar, their voices blending in lovely harmonies. Rest in peace, Harvey. We will miss you. The club extends sincere condolences to Alice and to the rest of their family. Condolences may be sent to Alice Backer, 6322 Caton St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217 If you have news to share, contact me at 372 Central Park West; #15B, New York, NY 10025; 2126636309, ruthlipman(at)msn.com New Link to Keep Your Details Current Have you changed your home or email address?
