It's the Amazing
Just when you thought it was safe to go near the mailbox... It’s the amazing... MutantMutant PopPop C a t a l o g ONCE AGAIN IN THE ULTRA-TRADITIONALIST PHOTOCOPIED FORMAT! #38 This catalog is so far over due that the phrase “late” doesn’t begin to do the matter justice. Rather than spend this entire page offering up a wave of excuses and explanations—some lame, some valid—I’ll just refer anyone who cares to the Mutant Pop website: http://www.mutantpop.com, then click INTERVIEWS and select interview no. 10. That’s as complete a recita- tion of my discouragements and failings as anything.... I’m very sorry for any inconvenience that the “18 months of sloth” has caused. I’m actually a little amazed that I’m back with full avidity doing label stuff again—orders are shipping on time, and new stuff is once again being accumulated for the inventory here. The next wave of SRCDs is, at long last, in preparation— apologies and thanks are especially due to the long-suffering SRCD subscribers who have been patiently twiddling their thumbs waiting for me to get it back in gear. I thank you for your tolerance and kindness. While I may have earned a failing grade for my (non-)effort with Mutant Pop in 2001, the year was not a total loss. There may AttentionAttention DeficitDeficit have been only two MP releases for all of 2001, but they both kicked some major boo-tay... Take, for example, the full-length compact disc by ATTENTION DEFICIT, Adventures in Laissez-Faire Eco- nomics.. -
Universal Salvation and the Problem of Hell John R
Theological Studies 52 (1991) CURRENT ESCHATOLOGY: UNIVERSAL SALVATION AND THE PROBLEM OF HELL JOHN R. SACHS, S.J. Weston School of Theology, Cambridge, Mass. HE PURPOSE of this article is to take a fresh look at the ancient and Tmuch misunderstood theme of apocatastasis. Increasing contempo rary use of the apocalyptic language of hell, hand in hand with the alarming appeal and growth of fundamentalism, sectarianism, and inte- gralism, suggest the urgency of this endeavor. After first surveying the checkered history of this theme from biblical times to the present, I will, second, state and describe the central points of current Catholic theology on these issues. It manifests a remarkable degree of consensus. Third, I shall turn more closely to the highly original thought of Hans Urs von Balthasar, whose approach seems most challenging. Fourth, I shall raise a question concerning the ability of human freedom to reject God defin itively. Finally, my conclusion will stress how a properly understood Christian universalism is not only consonant with several central strands of Christian belief, but is also profoundly relevant to the religious and cultural developments of the present age. THE DOCTRINE OF APOCATASTASIS The doctrine of apocatastasis, commonly attributed to Origen, main tained that the entire creation, including sinners, the damned, and the devil, would finally be restored to a condition of eternal happiness and salvation. This was an important theme in early Christian eschatology.1 Even before the Christian era, of course, the idea of an apokatastasis paritàri was well known in ancient religion and philosophy. In Eastern thought especially, one finds a predominantly cyclical conception of time and history according to which the end always involves a return to the 1 See, for example, Brian E. -

2E Eschatology [PDF]
5. The Ministerial Office I. Christ instituted one office in his church, the ministry of the gospel. 1. Christ assigned one task to his church: the office of preaching of the gospel. a) The one task given to the church is preaching the word and administering the sacraments. Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” John 20:21-23 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Acts 1:8 You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. -
Ashfield Aquatic Centre Now Open
Quarterly Summer 2020/21 Ashfield Aquatic Centre now open To find out more about the centre and its facilities, or watch a short film on its making, go toinnerwest.nsw.gov.au/AAC Changes at Newtown Town Hall New childcare Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (NNC) will relocate to Tom Foster centre Community Centre (TFCC) in south Newtown in late 2021. NNC CEO Liz Yeo said they were looking forward to the move and redesigning TFCC’s layout so it better suited their programs and needs. “The space also has a warm and welcoming outdoor garden that will be able to be utilised by staff, volunteers, clients and community members. We currently have staff located in two separate offices and this will give us the opportunity to come together as one team, and to invest what we would have spent on rent into services for our community,” she said. Tom Foster Community Centre will undergo a major refurbishment in early 2021 with the NCC moving in after this is completed. Council has opened a new childcare centre. Yirran Gumal Early Learning Centre in Steel Park Marrickville commenced with a limited intake of 20 children per day in late October. Over the next 12 months, enrolments will increase until the centre reaches its approved capacity of 60 children per day. The building incorporates multiple environmentally-sound features, including timber frames and solar water heating. Quality LED lighting, natural ventilation, and high efficiency air conditioning, and a small solar photovoltaic (PV) array will generate electric power - all of which mean meeting an energy benchmark 25% below most other childcare centres. -

Nathaniel Ogden Kidd, B.A., M.Div A Dissertation submitted to the Faculty of the Graduate School, Marquette University, in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Milwaukee, Wisconsin December, 2018 ABSTRACT IMAGINING DEMONS IN POST-BYZANTINE JERUSALEM: JOHN OF DAMASCUS AND THE CONSOLIDATION OF CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN DEMONOLOGY The Rev. Nathaniel Ogden Kidd, B.A., M.Div Marquette University, 2018 This dissertation traces the consolidation of a classical Christian framework for demonology in the theological corpus of John of Damascus (c. 675 – c. 750), an eighth century Greek theologian writing in Jerusalem. When the Damascene sat down to write, I argue, there was a great variety of demonological options available to him, both in the depth of the Christian tradition, and in the ambient local imagination. John’s genius lies first in what he chose not to include, but second in his ability to synthesize a minimalistic demonology out of a complex body of material and integrate it into a broader theological system. -
The Damned Free
FREE THE DAMNED PDF J. K. Huysmans,Terry Hale | 320 pages | 01 Feb 2002 | Penguin Books Ltd | 9780140447675 | English | London, United Kingdom The Damned on Spotify The common denominator was that it was all very The Damned kids doing it, and doing it on their terms. Vanian and Captain Sensible — who was born Raymond Burns — are authorities on such matters, since the Damned were the U. With original guitarist Brian James and drummer Rat Scabies, and alongside the Sex Pistols, Clash and Buzzcocks, they helped pioneer the cutting, manic sound that defined a cultural movement in the country four decades ago. When James quit, The Damned Sensible moved from bass to guitar and the band created a new sound that split the difference between the genre they helped create and the keyboard-saturated Nuggets comp for another classic LP, Machine Gun Etiquettecatapulting them into the U. Before the tour started, Vanian and Captain Sensible participated in extensive interviews with Rolling Stone to look back on just how they got here. Dave Vanian: It was at an Irish The Damned with a small stage in Kilburn, where we supported a folk band called Salt. It was an The Damned bizarre place. They had a three-legged attack dog behind the bar. We played our whole set regardless. Were you wearing your vampiric makeup then? Vanian: I looked like that before I was in the band. I was just drawn to the Victorian-gentleman scenario, so I dressed like that. Just wearing black was a major issue The Damned — forget about The Damned else. -
A Treatise Upon the Passion
A Treatise upon the Passion by 5 Sir Thomas More Page and line numbers correspond to 10 The Complete Works of St. Thomas More (Yale University Press), volume 13. A complete concordance to this work can be found at www.thomasmorestudies.org/publications.html#Concordance. 15 Spelling standardized, punctuation modernized, and glosses added by Mary Gottschalk ©CTMS 2016 20 Punctuation The only punctuation marks found in the earliest versions of this text are the period, comma, colon, question mark, slash, or “virgule” ( / ), and parentheses. Quotation marks, semicolons, dashes, exclamation points, and italics have been made use of with the goal of making the text more readily 25 understood by present-day readers. As for the suspension points ( … ), these are substitutes for many of More’s slashes. He often used a slash where we would use a comma, a semicolon, a dash, or italics; but he also, quite often, used one to indicate whether a certain phrase was meant to be connected more closely with the one preceding it or with the one following it; to call attention to parallel elements in different phrases; or simply to facilitate serious reflection. He also sometimes used a slash for dramatic purposes— 30 to indicate, perhaps, a coming sly comment, or some possibly surprising conclusion. The evident thoughtfulness with which More punctuated this book leads one to suspect that he anticipated its being often read aloud, and wanted to make sure the reader got the cadence right. He writes as though he were speaking. 2 3 A treatise upon the Passion of Christ (unfinished), made in the Year of our Lord 1534 by Sir Thomas More, Knight, while he was prisoner in the Tower of London. -
