Dated: 14 July 1977. RESIGNATION OF SPEAKER The Hon B. F. Kilgariff, Member for Alice Springs, resigned as Speaker of the House on 16 July 1975. Mr J. L. S. McFarlane, Member for Elsey, was elected to the position of Speaker on 17 July 1975. BY-ELECTION Following the resignation of Mr B. F. Kilgariff, Member for Alice Springs on 12 November 1975, a by-election was held on 7 February 1976, resulting in Mr G. E Manuell being elected for the Country Liberal Party. Dated: 14 November 1983. NEW OPPOSITION LEADER Mr Isaacs (Member for Millner) resigned as Opposition Leader on 1 November 1981. Mr R. L. Collins (Member for Arnhem) was elected as Leader of the Opposition with effect from 2 November 1981 and remained as such for the remainder of the term. 4 BY-ELECTION Following the Resignation of Mr N. G. Perkins (Member for Macdonnell) on 6 March 1981, a by-election was held on 28 March 1981 resulting in Mr N. R. Bell being elected. Sworn in by Chief Justice on 1 April 1981.
