UPCOMING EVENTS Kygo to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert Norway’s biggest EDM star will perform at the concert in Telenor Arena on December 11. Other performers include a-ha and Aurora, and Jay Leno will be hosting the show. The Nobel Peace Prize Concert takes place on the day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, and will honour this years’ laureate, the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet. This is first time the concert is being held in Telenor Arena. Relatively unknown just a year ago, Kygo is now one of the world’s biggest EDM stars, with hits including “Firestone”, “Stole the Show” and a remix of a-ha’s “Take on Me”. In addition to his performance in Telenor Arena, Kygo will play an acoustic version of “Firestone” outside the Grand Hotel at the end of the torch parade on 10 December. The entire 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert will be streamed live on YouTube and shown live on the Norwegian TV station NRK1. In addition to Kygo, a-ha and Aurora, more artists will be announced in the coming weeks. Click here for more information and here for tickets. Mumford & Sons to Oslo in May The London quartet will perform in Oslo Spektrum May 10. Mumford & Sons debuted with Sigh No More in 2009 and took the world by storm with their energetic mix of folk, country and bluegrass. The follow- up, Babel, topped the charts worldwide, and was rewarded with the coveted Grammy award for the year’s best album in 2013. When the band was booked to perform at Sentrum Scene on the Babel tour, the tickets sold out in two minutes. The concert was therefore moved to the much bigger Oslo Spektrum, which also sold out in no time. Now Mumford & Sons are back with their third album, Wilder Mind. This time electric guitar and keyboards have replaced the banjo, and the band’s sound is slightly darker than before, without having lost the comfy, energetic feel that has made their music so popular. • Globalization and Performance of Place by Andreas Otte
The music in Greenland and Greenland in the music Globalization and performance of place By Andreas Otte This research has been financed by the Commission for Scientific Research in Greenland (KVUG) Abstract The history of Greenlandic music is one of cross-local interconnectedness. Styles and trends have evolved as a result of globalization, but there is a significant trend amongst popular music artists in Greenland to perform a sense of local and national identity in their music, and to produce music that is relevant to a na- tional context. Through a look at how musical styles have evolved in Greenland, and how popular music trends have changed over time, in this article, I trace the presence of a broadly acknowledged repertoire of sounds and lyrical themes for performing place in music. Through a discussion of the role of place in music that draws on Massey’s ‘global sense of place’ (1994), I suggest that in music, places are best understood as meeting points, and that place as meeting point is in some form or another always noticeable in music. I furthermore argue that place in music is often connected to local contexts both by drawing on locally de- veloped particularity, but also by being affected by the history of globalization in local places. 2 The music in Greenland and Greenland in the music Globalization and performance of place Andreas Otte This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Navngivelse-IkkeKommerciel 3.0 Unported License. • Nyhedsbrev 3 2017

I mean, what if the band Wear Your Passion with Pride name is literal? What if you start listening and unleash destruction upon the planet? Thankfully, that didn’t happen. In fact, there isn’t much about this release that would lead you to think of destruction at all. Not that it is all pretty music or anything like that. But I’ve heard music that makes you think that the end of the world is like, right now. This release reminds me a lot of Devin Townsend Project stuff. There are some real prog touches in here, mixed with some heavier, metal type music, and some flat out death metal vocals at times.

Deres forkortede versjon kan leses her. Sigurd Wongraven og Erna Solberg, flankert av representanter for klesmerket Moods of Norway. Kilde: @nrk_lindmo.
