ABSTRACT The study of a large array of ash waste from landfills of energy sector enterprises in Primorsky Territory was made. Data on the content of gold and silver in the ash and slug waste of some energy enterprises in Primorsky Territory was given. Group of samples with high content of gold and silver was found. Silver content was found within 0.5-29.7 g/t limits. Gold content was found within 0.004–0.45 g/t limits. The information on the chemical composition of the investigated slag samples was given. Based on these data, the method of separation of ash and slag waste in the individual mineral fractions was proposed. The possibility of gold concentration in the non-magnetic fraction of the slag cleared of silt, clay, black charcoal and magnetic minerals was shown. How to use the Atlas The Atlas has two map sections The Main Section shows the location of Russia’s intact forest landscapes. The Thematic Section shows their tree species composition in two different ways. The legend is placed at the beginning of each set of maps. If you are looking for an area near a town or village Go to the Index on page 153 and find the alphabetical list of settlements by English name. The Cyrillic name is also given along with the map page number and coordinates (latitude and longitude) where it can be found. Capitals of regions and districts (raiony) are listed along with many other settlements, but only in the vicinity of intact forest landscapes. The reader should not expect to see a city like Moscow listed. Villages that are insufficiently known or very small are not listed and appear on the map only as nameless dots. If you are looking for an administrative region Go to the Index on page 185 and find the list of administrative regions. The numbers refer to the map on the inside back cover. Having found the region on this map, the reader will know which index map to use to search further. If you are looking for the big picture Go to the overview map on page 35. This map shows all of Russia’s Intact Forest Landscapes, along with the borders and Roman numerals of the five index maps. If you are looking for a certain part of Russia Find the appropriate index map. These show the borders of the detailed maps for different parts of the country. -

Ussuriland and Amurland Far East Siberia May – June 2003 NETVERSION Eric Schaumburg, Erik Mølgaard, and Jørgen Bech Danish Ornithological Society Birdlife - Denmark Introduction In May-June 2003, the excursions committee of the Copenhagen section of the Danish Ornithological Society (DOF) carried out its first tour to Russia. The destination was Ussuriland and Amurland in the Far East Siberia. The tour was designed to give the participants a thorough coverage of Far East Siberia. We had chosen a selection of excellent and different habitats. The number of bird species recorded was very impressive. We made up a bird list of 250 species and additional 60 species on our days in Moscow region. The time for the trip was elected for trying to see all the breeding birds and still see some migrating too. In fact, some of the breeding birds had not arrived e.g. Lesser Cuckoo and Swinhoe's Storm- Petrel. In the first days in the southern area we had a lot of migrating passerines. But it should be considered to start the trip a week later! The weather on the tour was very changing. In southern Ussuriland the weather on the coast was influenced by the cold sea, being misty, and with few showers and 10 - 15ºC most days. 30 kms inland from the coast, the climate changed and it got warmer. At Bikin River and Udyl Lake it was sunny and nice. In the Muravievka Crane Park it was colder with few showers but most days were sunny. Be aware that winters can get extremely cold and summers very hot in the entire region. -

The results of an investigation of ash and slag wastes (ASW) of enterprises of the energy sector of Primorsky Krai are presented. The averaged contents of the main elements and mineral complexes in Primorsky Krai are given. It is shown that the mineral composition of the ASW data makes it possible to separate the primary raw materials into fractions with different compositions. A scheme is proposed for dividing the initial ash extractors into separate mineral fractions by the particle size and by their physical properties. The predominant concentration of gold, platinum, rare earth elements (REE) and a number of other valuable components in the heavy non-magnetic fraction isolated from the primary ASW was detected. Almost complete absence of gold, noble metals and REE in underburning of coal, magnetic and micro-dispersed fractions of ASW has been demonstrated. A device was offered for complex processing of ash and slag wastes of enterprises of the power industry of Primorsky Krai, which makes it possible to divide the initial ASW into mineral fractions, being raw materials for various industries. 1 Introduction One of the main problems facing the energy industry, producing electricity and heat using coal, is the problem of waste generated from the combustion of fuel. -

2016 Annual Report – Phoenix Fund 1 2016 Annual Report – Phoenix Fund BACKGOUND Just a century ago, there were an estimated 100,000 tigers in the wild; today only about 3,500 survive and occupy 7% of their historic range. The tiger has traditionally been classified into nine subspecies, of which three are recently extinct and one likely so. Bengal, Amur, Sumatran, Indochinese, and Malayan tiger, are the surviving subspecies, while the Bali, Javan, Caspian, and, perhaps South China subspecies are extinct. A world without tigers would mean an ecological imbalance as they are the highest in the food chain and are predators. Nowadays, tiger is on the agenda at many highest level political meetings organized to discuss its conservation. At the end of one of such meetings, the International Tiger Forum held in St. Petersburg in 2010, leaders of 13 tiger range countries adopted a Global Tiger Recovery Program that includes a target of doubling wild tiger numbers by 2022, making core tiger areas inviolate, increasing public awareness of tiger conservation, setting up cross-boundary protected areas and cracking down on poaching and smuggling. Russia is one of the 13 tiger-range countries that signed a Declaration aimed at doubling tigers worldwide by 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin is deeply concerned about Amur tiger conservation and has conducted many visits to Primorsky krai in the south of the Russian Far East, which is home to 95 per cent of the global population of Amur tigers. Unfortunately, this subspecies, in spite of a relative stabilization during previous decades, still face many threats such as poaching, habitat destruction, prey depletion and others.
