Celtic Egyptians: Isis Priests of the Lineage of Scota Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers – the primary creative genius behind the famous British occult group, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn – and his wife Moina Mathers established a mystery religion of Isis in fin-de-siècle Paris. Lawrence Durdin-Robertson, his wife Pamela, and his sister Olivia created the Fellowship of Isis in Ireland in the early 1970s. Although separated by over half a century, and not directly associated with each other, both groups have several characteristics in common. Each combined their worship of an ancient Egyptian goddess with an interest in the Celtic Revival; both claimed that their priestly lineages derived directly from the Egyptian queen Scota, mythical foundress of Ireland and Scotland; and both groups used dramatic ritual and theatrical events as avenues for the promulgation of their Isis cults. The Parisian Isis movement and the Fellowship of Isis were (and are) historically-inaccurate syncretic constructions that utilised the tradition of an Egyptian origin of the peoples of Scotland and Ireland to legitimise their founders’ claims of lineal descent from an ancient Egyptian priesthood. To explore this contention, this chapter begins with brief overviews of Isis in antiquity, her later appeal for Enlightenment Freemasons, and her subsequent adoption by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. It then explores the Parisian cult of Isis, its relationship to the Celtic Revival, the myth of the Egyptian queen Scota, and examines the establishment of the Fellowship of Isis. The Parisian mysteries of Isis and the Fellowship of Isis have largely been overlooked by critical scholarship to date; the use of the medieval myth of Scota by the founders of these groups has hitherto been left unexplored. -

Ten Electrical Resistivity Imaging, 26 12 Shallow Seismic Refraction and 19 Ground Penetrating Radar surveys were conducted in the 13 Giza Pyramids Plateau. Collected data of each method evaluated by the state- of- the art 14 processing and modeling techniques. A three-layer model depicts the subsurface layers and 15 better delineates the groundwater aquifer and water table elevation. The aquifer layer resistivity 16 and seismic velocity vary between 40-80 Ωm and 1500-1800 m/s. The average water table 17 elevation is about +15 meters which is safe for Sphinx Statue, and still subjected to potential 18 hazards from Nazlet Elsamman Suburban where a water table elevation attains 17 m. Shallower 19 water table in Valley Temple and Tomb of Queen Khentkawes of low topographic relief 20 represent a sever hazards. Specifically, the book promises to deliver information about how the word imn ‘Amen,’ as attested in classical Kmt ‘Black Nation/Land of the Blacks,’ persists in the contemporary Akan language. While under a steady hand this should be a simple enough thesis to substantiate, unfortunately, the authors’ obvious lack of grounding in historical linguistics, their lack of knowledge of mdw nTr ‘Hieroglyphs’ as well as their lack of understanding the morphology (word structure) of the Akan language all mar the analyses presented in the book. On the orientation of the Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor Amelia Carolina Sparavigna (Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino) Abstract The Avenue of Sphinxes is a 2.8 kilometres long Avenue linking Luxor and Karnak temples. This avenue was the processional road of the Opet Festival from the Karnak temple to the Luxor temple and the Nile. For this Avenue, some astronomical orientations had been proposed. After the examination of them, we consider also an orientation according to a geometrical planning of the site, where the Avenue is the diagonal of a square, a sort of best-fit straight line in a landscape constrained by the presence of temples, precincts and other processional avenues. The direction of the rising of Vega was probably used as reference direction for the surveying. -

This led them to an absorption with the Jewish creation myths in Genesis, which they obsessively reinterpreted to formulate allegorical explanations of how humans ended up trapped in the world of matter. The basic Gnostic story, which varied in details from teacher to teacher, was this: In the beginning there was an unknowable, immaterial, and invisible God, sometimes called the Father of All and sometimes by other names. “He” was neither male nor female, and was composed of an implicitly finite amount of a living nonphysical substance. Surrounding this God was a great empty region called the Pleroma (the fullness). Beyond the Pleroma lay empty space. The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas. -

Prof. SETHEin Vol. 50, page 57, of this journal, printed an article entitled, “Das Fehlen des Begriffes der Blutschande bei den alten Ägyptern”, in which he concluded that Prince Neferma’at (of Giza) was the son of Sneferuw andhis eldest daughter, Nefertkauw. The conclusion was based on an emendation of the text above the false door in the tomb of Sneferuwkhaf at Giza to read: “The king of Upper and Lower Egypt, Sneferuw; his eldest daughter, Nefertkauw ; their son, Neferma’at; his son, Sneferuwkhaf”“. The con- clusion is maintained in a further article, “Zum Inzest des Sneferu” in Vol. 54, p. 54. During the month of February 1926, the Harvard-Boston Expedition excavated the area which contains the tomb of Sneferuwkhaf. From the secret tomb of Hetep- heres southwards runs the great street which we call “Queens Street’’ which separates the mastabas of the sons and daughters of Cheops from the pyramids of his queens. The CEM.G7000 WEST SIDE three small pyramids and the northernmost row of mastabas were built by Cheops and bear the name of one of the working crews found in the king’s pyramid. The casings of the royal mastabas in the second row and southwards were constructed in the time of Chephren. -

Whether it concerns who the pharaoh of the Exodus was, the background of Joseph, or the identity of Shishak, many Christians (and non-Christians) have wondered how these two topics fit together. This paper deals with the question, “How does ancient Egyptian chronology correlate with the book of Genesis?” In answering this question it begins with an analysis of every Egyptian dynasty starting with the 12th Dynasty (this is where David Down places Moses) and goes back all the way to the so called “Dynasty 0.” After all the data is presented, this paper will look at the different possibilities that can be constructed concerning how long each of these dynasties lasted and how they relate to the biblical dates of the Great Flood, the Tower of Babel, and the Patriarchs.
