2020 Convention Yearbook
Highlighting the accomplishments of students and adutls from all convention locations: Atlanta California Colorado Dallas Louisville Memphis Mid-Atlantic Nashville Orlando Lost? An argument can be made that there is no scarier a word in the English language than the word “lost.” Whether it is a lost child, a lost beloved pet, a lost parent or sibling, or even having lost a fortune. A child lost in the forest is a terrified, lonely human being. We chose this theme “Lost?” because of all the above awful scenarios, but there is not one that is worse than someone being lost, apart from God. There are 49 instances in the Bible where being lost is men- tioned. How important is it to God to have His lost children come home? He sent His only cherished Son to Earth to rec- tify the situation through a cruel, painful death and glorious resurrection. Because of this sacrifice, we have the oppor- tunity to be found, to have salvation! In a society where people are taught that there is no right or wrong, where our children are being taught that they should do whatever feels good to them, we need to be teaching our children that there is right and wrong. That there is a possibility of their being lost eternally. We must remember that just because we live in the world, we are not of the world. Our Father in heaven wants us to remember the terrible consequences of being lost. This weekend, across the United States and soon in many other countries, young people will be giving speeches, and participating in events on the theme of “Lost?”. It is our responsibility to teach them the way to heaven. Don’t let the world and its sin lull you into believing this is not important. Being lost and apart from God is the ultimate worst- A CHRIST-LIKE case scenario. Re-examine your salvation and that of your children. You’ll be glad you did! SPIRIT... Please keep in mind that your hard work and preparation to attend and participate at the Your brother in Christ, Convention this year are greatly appreciated and commended by us all. However, we want to remind you to always keep a Christ-like spirit in all that you do. That includes competition. Winning at whatever event we compete in is not our primary reward. Rather, our goal should be Roy Johnson eternal life and the satisfaction of being a good servant for the Lord. Please be kind, courteous Executive Director and convey a cooperative spirit in all that you do, L2L both at Convention and in your daily life.
