Trust in the Hidden

Faced with an important decision, we try to figure out what God is asking of us. When a dilemma seems to be without solution, we wonder how it will all end. The experience of any loss sets us on a search for the meaning—usually with mixed results. We, as Catholic Christians are not the only ones to confront life’s mysteries. We are all mysteries to ourselves, a complex array of motives, desires, hopes and fears. Science no sooner solves one question than several more pop up in its place. But hidden with Christ, in God, we are drawn onward by grace—yet another mystery. Our lives, including much of the good we do, are indeed hidden, just as Jesus was in the tomb. But, now...today...we experience the glory of Easter morning! And that’s what we look forward to! Lord, grant that we trust in you always! M. STEWARDSHIP & EASTER IN ROME... Stewardship....Live It! This past week, Holy Week until Thursday evening, Stewardship: a way of life for our then this weekend the Easter Triduum, has been a busy St. Bernadette Parish Family… one here at St. Bernadette. Our priests are well aware of how exhausting it can be. It is even more so for our Holy “Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” Father Pope Francis. One of the traditions for the Pope (all popes for many Colossians 3: 2 centuries) is the Via Crucis, the Way of the Cross—to most of us the Stations of the Cross. The key for us today is to carry that joy away from Mass to our celebrations and our lives.

We hear about similar joy in today’s Gospel from Saint John. When Mary of Magdala goes to the tomb and discovers it empty, she does not walk leisurely back to tell the others. She runs, filled with excitement and with the same joy we must feel. Joy is contagious. That is what we need to spread when we go forth on this glorious day.

Easter for us should be an encounter with the Risen Lord. We are to share the Good News. That is what Mary of Magdala does. Perhaps we have a difficult time talking about the joy we feel at Easter and at other times in the Of course, there are many more activities involving Church.
