Coverscaping: Discovering Album Aesthetics. Museum Tusculanum Press. 2 Abstract The Pomegranate Cycle is a practice-led enquiry consisting of a creative work and an exegesis. This project investigates the potential of self-directed, technologically mediated composition as a means of reconfiguring gender stereotypes within the operatic tradition. This practice confronts two primary stereotypes: the positioning of female performing bodies within narratives of violence and the absence of women from authorial roles that construct and regulate the operatic tradition. The Pomegranate Cycle redresses these stereotypes by presenting a new narrative trajectory of healing for its central character, and by placing the singer inside the role of composer and producer. During the twentieth and early twenty-first century, operatic and classical music institutions have resisted incorporating works of living composers into their repertory. -

ACCEPTED DRAFT Title: ‘Bad Retail’: A romantic fiction Author: Laurence Figgis Output Type: Article Published: Journal of Writing in Creative Practice Date: 2017 Biography Laurence Figgis is an artist and writer and a lecturer in Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking) at the Glasgow School of Art. He works in collage, painting, drawing, fiction and poetry. His recent exhibitions include (After) After at Leeds College of Art (2017), Human Shaped at Sculpture & Design, Glasgow (for Glasgow International 2016) and Oh My Have at 1 Royal Terrace, Glasgow (2015). He has produced commissioned texts for other artists’ exhibitions and catalogues including for Lorna Macintyre, Zoe Williams and Cathy Wilkes. His live-performance work ‘Even or Perhaps’ (at DCA, Dundee, 2014) was programmed as part of Generation, a nationwide celebration of Scottish contemporary art. [email protected] www.laurencefiggis.co.uk Abstract ‘Bad Retail’ is a work of fiction that I wrote to accompany a series of my own narrative paintings. The text was originally disseminated through a series of exhibitions in the form of printed handouts that were included alongside the visual works. The story evolved from a simultaneous investigation of two related devices in literature and painting: anachronism and collage. These 1 ACCEPTED DRAFT terms are linked by an act of displacement: of objects from history and of images from their source. This compositional tendency is characteristic of late-eighteenth- and early-nineteenth- century romantic fiction, which often refuses to conform to (and remain within) accustomed genre categories. The aforementioned narrative will be accompanied here by a series of illustrations based on the paintings and drawings that I produced in tandem with the text. -

For several years, we’ve presented pieces commissioned by the best modern composers for our talented musicians, continuing the BPO’s tradition of contributing to classical music’s future. In 1946, the BPO made the premiere recording of the Shostakovich Leningrad Symphony. Music director Lukas Foss was also a renowned composer who regularly programmed world premieres of the works of himself and his contemporaries. -

"inondé" à satiété les ondes radiophoniques du monde entier avec leurs hits que sont les Eye In The Sky et son prologue Sirius, Don't Answer Me, Psychobabble, I Wouldn't Want To Be like You et autres Games People Play. Après une dizaine d'albums, quelques live plus ou moins "pirates", des compilations best of, l'aventure prend fin et Alan PARSONS continue seul sa carrière sous son nom (je me permets ici de vous renvoyer vers, par exemple, le site internet de BIG BANG et son dossier sur le groupe pour une bibliographie discographique riche et fouillée !). Enregistré en mai 2004 à Madrid en Espagne, Alan PARSONS (claviers, guitare acoustique et chant), ici accompagné de P.J OLSSON (guitare acoustique et chant), G. TOWNSEND (guitares et chant), S. MURPHY (batterie), J. MONTAGNA (basse) et M. FOCARAZZO (claviers), nous offrent un superbe live ou quasiment tous les hits cités ci-dessus du ALAN PARSONS PROJECT s'y trouvent enchaînés. Alan revisite une partie des albums du groupe, de I Robot (1977) à Ammonia Avenue (1984). Et pour les fans quarantenaires qui ont "marché" au son de ses hymnes dans leur jeunesse, ces 13 titres respirent le bonheur et plaquent des retours en arrière chargés d'émotions et de souvenirs pittoresques ! Souvent étiquetée Rock Progressif puis Pop Rock, la musique du groupe est à rapprocher des PINK FLOYD par exemple. -
