ABSTRACT

The World War II Publications Collection consists of materials published during World War II, as well as those printed immediately afterward for returning veterans.

The Health-for-Victory Club Meal Planning Guides, were magazines prepared by the Home Economics Institute, Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company. These magazines were designed to help those at home learn how to create and serve well balanced meals, despite food shortages and rationing. Each issue included articles, recipes, and a daily menu plan.

The To G.I.’s “Welcome Home” publication is geared toward veterans returning to Charlotte after the war. It discusses what the veteran needs to do first upon returning home, organizations for veterans, and a question and answer section.

This collection includes publications.

The World War II Publications Collection is a small collection formerly from the Ephemera Collection. It consists of publications printed during and due to World War II. The materials are from 1943 and 1945, with the bulk of the collection from 1943.
