FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GOLDMINE CONTEMPORARY WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION OF SIRJE AND MICHAEL GOLD February 5 – April 10, 2011 UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUM, California State University, Long Beach LONG BEACH –– Michael and Sirje Gold have been collecting contemporary art for more than thirty years. UAM Director Chris Scoates has curated an exciting new exhibition focused around these two prominent and innovative Los Angeles collectors. Unlike many other LA collections, the Gold’s collection is a remarkable cross section of established, emerging, mid-career, and undiscovered artists who have been working in the region. Their thoughtful selection of paintings, works on paper, photographs, and sculpture represent an unprecedented look at the diversity of aesthetic threads and an array of issues that characterize work being made in and around Los Angeles today.
