Tokuro Matsuo (Ph.D., M.S., and B.Edu.) is an associate professor at Graduate School of Science and Engineering in Yamagata University since 2006. He graduated from School of Culture and Educa- tion of Saga University in 2001 and from School of Knowledge Science of Japan Advanced Institute of Technology in 2003. He received his Ph.D. from Department of Computer Science at Nagoya Institute of Technology in 2006. He is a visiting researcher in University California, Irvine (2010-2011) and a research fellow of Software Engineering and Information Technology Institute of Central Michigan University (2010-2012). His current research interests include career service system, safety service for disaster recovery, designs on secure electronic commerce systems and robust e-auction protocols, qualitative reasoning and simulations, polymer chemical material design system, and travel support systems. Some of his researches are presented in top-leveled international conference including AAAI, IEEE CEC, AAMAS, and WWW. He created and organized 26 international conferences and workshops including Pacific Rim International Workshop on E-Commerce 2006, Conference on Software Engineer- ing, Network, Parallel and Distributed Computing 2009, IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information Science 2010, IEEE International Workshop on e-Activity 2007-2011, and International Workshop on Automated Complex Agent-based Negotiation 2005-2011. He received over 40 awards and research grants from research foundations, company, and government. He is commis- sioned as Adviser of Information Promotion from the Japanese Government. He also is a chairperson of the Investigation Committee on Tourist Information System in the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan from 2011.

Takayuki Fujimoto (Ph.D., M.S., B.Edu.) received the Doctor degree of Informatics (Ph.D.) from Graduate School of Science and Engineering in Yamagata University in 2007. He also received Master degree of Science in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2003 and Bachelor degree of Education in Waseda University in 2001. Currently, he is a lecturer of Dep. of Computational Science and Engineering, Toyo University. His main area of study includes information design, artificial intel- ligence, and electronic education, e-learning support systems, university information support systems based on information reuse and integrations, and e-activity. He is a member of IEEE, and several others. He is a conference organizing IEEE IWEA 2007.

Takayuki Asada is a professor of Accounting in Graduate school of Economics at University in Japan since September 1st 1995. Prior to this he had a position of Associate Professor of Accounting in University of Tsukuba. He belongs to several academic associations, The Accounting Association About the Contributors

of Japan, Japanese Management Accounting Association, The International Association of Project and Program and American Accounting Association. He also has worked with Osaka Gus Company and also has teaching and consultancy experience in Japanese service and manufacturing companies. He is a regular speaker at some international conferences and holds visiting lecturer’s experience in UK and France. Also, he got a distinguished research funds from Fulbright Committee and Japanese Foundation in 1985 and 1999 and got a paper award from IMA in 1999.

Ran-Fun Chiu has his BS degree from national Taiwan University, and MS, PhD degrees from Uni- versity of Houston, all in electrical engineering. From 1970 to 1981, he was with Racal-Milgo designing high-speed modems and other digital transmission equipment. He joined Hewlett Packard Laboratories to work on network products and systems in 1981. Currently he is a distinguished technologist. His works include LANs, IP routers, network management, HFC data delivery systems (cable modem), LMDS, VoIP, and network security. In the past 10 years he has been working on large scale mobile networks, including the M-Taipei, and the M-Taiwan projects.

Ricardo Colomo-Palacios is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His research interests include applied research in Information Systems, software project management, people in software projects and social and Semantic Web. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid. He also holds a MBA from the Instituto de Empresa. He has been working as software engineer, project manager, and software en- gineering consultant in several companies, including Spanish IT leader, INDRA. He is also an Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor for several international journals and conferences and Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Human Capital and Information Technology Professionals.

Nashwan Dawood, BEng, MPhil, PhD is currently the director of Technology Future Institute (TFI) and director and creator of the Centre for Construction Innovation & Research (CCIR) at Teesside Uni- versity, UK. He has spent many years as an academic, practitioner, and a researcher within the field of project and construction management and the application of IT/VR in the construction process. This has ranged across a number of research topics including sustainability, ICT for energy efficient buildings, Information Technologies and Systems (nD, VR, Integrated databases), planning and management of off-site production, risk management, and intelligent decision support systems. This has resulted in over 200 published papers in refereed international journals and conferences, research grants from European Union FP7, British Council, Industry, Engineering Academy, EPSRC, DTI UK Department Trade and Industry, construction industry companies and knowledge transfer partnership, totalling about 4,500,000 in cash. Prof. Dawood has been invited for keynote presentations around the world, and he is the creator of CONVR (Construction Application of VR) conference series. He is a major contributor to BIM imple- mentation strategies in the UK. Prof. Dawood’s research projects are multi-disciplinary in nature and complementary knowledge and expertise within his research centre, national and international research institutions, and collaboration with the UK and EU construction industry has led to successful research bids and exciting research projects.

Yasuo Ebara received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the Graduate School of Information Science, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1997 and 2000. Since 2000, he has been with , where he is an assistant professor. Since 2008, he has been with Central Office for Information Infrastructure

at , where he is an associate professor. His research interests include tele-immersion technology, network computing, and application of information communication system. He is a member of IEEE Computer Society.

Yae Fukushige is an associate professor at the Graduate School of Commerce at Otaru University of Commerce, Japan. She received Bachelor of Law from Shimane University, Master of Law from , Master of Economics and Ph.D in Economics from Osaka University. After being a part-time lecturer and a research assistant at Hannan University, since 2010 she is an Associate Professor at Otaru University of Commerce. She is a member of Japan Society for Intellectual Produc- tion, Japanese Society for Information and Systems in Education, Japan Academic Society of Ventures and Entrepreneurs.

Huiwei Guan received PhD degree in computer science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University of China in 1993. He was an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering & Science School of Shanghai University in China. From 1995, he worked as a research fellow in Department of Electronic Engineer- ing of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and from 1996 to 1997 he worked as a senior research fel- low in Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong. From 1998 to 1999, he joined German National Research Center for Information Technology (GMD-IPSI) in Germany as a senior international scientist. From 1999 to 2001, he was the principal researcher and the director of Advanced Technology Department of Primeon Inc., USA. From 2001, he joined the faculty of Computer Science, North Shore Community College, USA and presently he is a tenured full professor there. He is also a certified national IT professional in USA. Dr. Guan is the author of more than 80 research contributions to international journals and international conferences. He is a referee of IEE International Computing & Control Engineering Journal, International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems, Journal of Computer Science and Technology, International Journal of Computing and Informatics, International Journal of Advanced Technology for Learning, and Journal of China Science. He is a PC member and referee of IEEE International Conference on Algorithms & Architectures for Parallel Processing, IEEE International Symposium on High-Performance Distributed Computing, IEEE Real-Time Systems Sym- posium, IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, International Symposium on Database, Web and Cooperative Systems, and International Symposium on Cooperative Database Systems for Advanced Applications. His current research topics are parallel processing system and parallel algorithms, and network security and network applications.

Hidehiko Hayashi is currently an associate professor in the Department of Technology and Informa- tion Education, Naruto University of Education, Tokushima, Japan. He received his MS in Information Science and PhD degree in Knowledge Science from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) in 2000 and 2003, respectively. His research interests are Information and knowledge Science, brain computer interface, medical information, & evaluation of human information processing mechanism.

Yi-Chieh Ho received her PhD degree in Language Teaching and Learning from the Department of Applied Language Studies and Linguistics of the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She is cur- rently Assistant Professor at Hwa-Hsia Institute of Technology in Taiwan. Her research interests include program evaluation, CALL, curriculum development, and effective teaching and learning.

Naohiro Ishii received the BE and ME degrees and the PhD degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1963,1965 and 1968, respectively. He was a professor in Computer Science in Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. Since 2003, he has been a professor of Information Science in Aichi Institute of Technology. His research interests include computer systems, artificial intelligence, and Web applications. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, and ACIS.

Rei Itsuki received the Master degree in mechanical engineering from Waseda University in 1987 and the Doctor degree of engineering from Osaka University in 2000. He joined Hitachi, Ltd. in 1987. In 2002, he joined Hiroshima International University, where he is currently a professor in the Depart- ment of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Engineering. His research interests include man machine interface, Internet of Things, RFID application, sensor network, and ubiquitous computing. He is a member of the IEEE, the IEEJ, and the JSAI.

Alexandros Karakasidis received his BS degree from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Ioannina in Greece, in 2002. He received his MSc from the same department in 2005. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer and Communication Engineering at the University of Thessaly, in Volos, Greece. His main research interests include privacy and security in advanced database systems, data mining, and data quality. He has published papers in refereed journals and international conferences and workshops. He has served as a reviewer for international journals and conferences.

Masaharu Kato was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1969. He received B.E., and M.E. degrees from Yamagata University, Yamagata, Japan, in 1991 and 1993 respectively. He also received Ph.D. degrees from Tohoku University, Miyagi, Japan, in 2010. Since 1993, he has been with Yamagata University, where he is currently an Assistant Professor at Graduate School of Science and Engineering. His research interests include speech recognition. He is a member of the Acoustical Society of Japan.

Masaki Kohda was born in Aichi, Japan in 1942. He received B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Nagoya University, in 1965, 1967, and 1979 respectively. In 1967, he joined Electrical Communication Laboratories of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. Since 1987, he has been with Yamagata University, where he is currently an Emeritus Professor. His research interests include speech recognition, speaker recognition, speech synthesis, speech coding, and language modeling. He is a member of the Information Processing Society of Japan, the Acoustical Society of Japan, the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, and the Association for Natural Language Processing.

Tetsuo Kosaka was born in Miyagi, Japan, in 1960. He received B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Tohoku University, Miyagi, Japan, in 1984, 1986, and 1997 respectively. In 1986, he joined CANON Inc., Tokyo, Japan. From 1991 to 1995, he was a researcher at ATR Interpreting Telephony Research Laboratories, Kyoto, Japan. Since 2002, he has been working at Yamagata University, Yamagata, Japan, where he is currently an Associate Professor at Graduate School of Science and Engineering. His research interests include speech processing and its applications. He received the Paper Award of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Japan, in 1996. He is a member of the IEICE, the IEEE, and the Acoustical Society of Japan.

Takashi Kusama was born in Miyagi, Japan, in 1984. He received B.E. and M.E. degrees from Yamagata University, Yamagata, in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He has currently been working with PFU Ltd. His research interests include speech recognition.

Euripidis Loukis is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Decision Support Systems in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean, Greece. Formerly he has been Information Systems Advisor at the Ministry to the Presidency of the Government of Greece, Technical Director of the Program of Modernization of Greek Public Administration of the Second Community Support Framework and National Representative of Greece in the programs Telematics for Administrations and IDA (Interchange of Data between Administra- tions) of the European Union. He is the author of numerous scientific articles in international journals and conferences; one of them has been honoured with the International Award of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Controls and Diagnostics Committee. His current research interests include Information Systems value/impacts and internal/external determinants, e-government, e-participation, and medical decision support systems.

Toshiyuki Maeda is a professor of network communication at the Faculty of Management Informa- tion at Hannan University, Japan. He graduated MSc (1984), MSc (1986) from Kyoto University, Ph.D in Computer Science from University in 2004. He joined as a researching engineer in Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. from 1986 until 1997, engaged in computer-aided design, knowl- edge information processing, multimedia communication, et cetera. He was a lecturer from 1999 until 2003 at Fukuyama Heisei University, and from 2003 an associate professor at Hannan University, and from 2008 a professor at Hannan University to present. He is a member of IEEE, Information Process- ing Society of Japan, Japanese Society of Artificial Intelligence, and so on. He is currently interested in network communication, educational engineering, and medical risk management system.

Akinori Minazuki is currently a professor and a director of Center for Information and Technology and System, Kushiro Public University, Hokkaido, Japan. He received his PhD degree in Knowledge Science from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Japan (JAIST) in 2003. His research interests are Information and knowledge Science, Information Technology for Socail systems, informa- tion education, emergency medical service & medical information.

Kazushi Nishimoto received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. from Kyoto University, Japan, in 1985 and 1987, respectively, and received Dr.Eng. from Osaka University, Japan, in 1998. He worked for Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. from 1987 to 1992. He was a researcher of ATR Communication Systems Research Laboratories from 1992 to 1995, and was a visiting researcher of ATR Media Integration & Communications Research Laboratories from 1995 to 1999. He was made an associate professor in the Center for Knowledge Science at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1999, and he was promoted to a full professor in 2007. He is currently also the director of Center for Knowledge Science as well as a vice trustee of the research and international division, JAIST. His research interests include creativity support, musical information processing and informal communication support. He is a member of IEEE CS, ACM, Information Processing Society of Japan, Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, and Japan Human Interface Society.

Akihiko Nagai is a doctoral course student in Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Innovation Management since 2007. He was in the School of Knowledge Science at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) as a master course student from 2004 to 2006. Tadayuki Okamoto is an associate professor of Cost Accounting at the Faculty of Law and Letters at Ehime University, Ehime, Japan. He graduated from Osaka University with undergraduate majors in economics, and received Master of Economics degrees from Osaka University in 1991. He currently teaches Cost Accounting, Management Accounting and Accounting Information Analysis. His major research interests are in agency problems in outsourcing contracts at public sector and mobile-learning. Since 2004, he has been used mobile-learning systems for undergraduate classes at Ehime University and Matsuyama University (Ehime, Japan), which uses mobile phone messages.

Ali Selamat is currently an Associate Professor at Faculty of Computer Science and Information System, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Manager of Information Technology at UTM Graduate School. He is a member of ACM and IEEE. He received a B.Sc. (Hons.) in IT from Teesside University, U.K. and M.Sc. in Distributed Multimedia Interactive Systems from Lancaster University, U.K. in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Pedro Soto-Acosta is a Professor of Management at the University of Murcia (Spain). He holds a PhD in Management Information Systems (MISs) and a Master’s degree in Technology Management from the University of Murcia. He received his BA in Accounting and Finance from the Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and his BA in Business Administration from the University of Murcia. He attended Postgraduate Courses at Harvard University (USA). His work has been published in journals such as the European Journal of Information Systems, the International Journal of Information Manage- ment, the Information Systems Management, and the Journal of Enterprise Information Management, among others. Koji Tanabe is a professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Innovation Man- agement from 2005. He received the Doctor degree of Engineering from Dept. of Innovation at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2005. His major area of study was analysis of innovation.

Atsushi Tanaka is an Associate Professor in Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Yamagata University. He received B.S., M.E, D.E degrees from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan in 1886, 1988,, and 1991, respectively. From 1991 to 1998, he was an Assistant Professor in the department of Electri-

His research interests include complex systems and pattern formation in nature. He has been analyzing the structures in complex networks in many fields including physics, informatics, sociology, and so on and modeling their mechanisms in recent years.

Muhammad Tarmizi Lockman is currently a graduate researcher at Faculty of Computer Science and Information System, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He received a B.Eng from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His research interests include embedded systems and real-time software engineering.

Takanori Terashima received PhD (2001), MS (1998) and BS (1994) in Engineering from Muroran Institute of Technology, Japan. After he worked for several university--Hokkaido University, University of Teesside, etc.-- as a researcher, he settled at his current position. His major is production and informa- tion systems engineering, particularly he has experience with designing 3D graphics applications for construction and metal mold industry. He has interest in data visualization on 3D space. The contribution to “E-Activity and Intelligent Web Construction: Effects of Social Design” is about an application of construction planning tool which visualizes the work progress from given materials such as CAD and project schedule data. He is trying to apply 3D visualization to any kind of industries. Other works are visualizing the structure of crawling Web pages for the intuitive display method of data search on the Net. Also he is studying the applications on the sports science. The range of this study covers from the human extraction from moving pictures to playback the flow line of the players for game strategy, or offering the educational material from junior club to referee training course. His recent contribution to the academic society is a conference local arrangement chair of IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information science 2010, and of the International Conference on Construction Ap- plications of Virtual Reality 2011. He also served a program committee of IEEE IWEA 2007 – 2010, etc.

Ippei Torii received B.F.A degree in sculpture of fine arts from Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan in 1982. From 1982 to1984, he was at the school of fine arts in Nihon University. From 2007, he has been an associate professor in Aichi Institute of Technology, Japan. From 2008, he has been a PhD course student. His research interests include computer graphics, visual design and drawing. He is a member of ACM SIGGraph, IEEE and ACIS.

Vassilios S. Verykios received the Diploma degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece in 1992, and the MS and the PhD degrees from Purdue University in 1997 and 1999, respectively. In 1999, he joined the Faculty of Information Systems in the College of Information Science and Technology at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, as a tenure track assistant professor. Since 2005 he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Communication Engineering at the University of Thessaly, in Volos, Greece. Dr. Verykios has served on various visiting positions in Athens Information Technology Center, Hellenic Open University and University of Patras, in Greece. His main research interests include knowledge based systems, privacy, security and anonymity in ad- vanced database systems, data mining, data reconciliation, privacy preserving record linkage, parallel computing, and performance evaluation of large scale parallel systems. He has published over 50 papers in major referred journals and in the proceedings of international conferences and workshops, and he has coauthored a monograph on Association Rule Hiding for Data Mining by Springer. He has served

in the program committees of several international scientific events and he has consulted for Telcordia Technologies, ChoiceMaker Technologies, Intracom SA, and SingularLogic SA. He has also been a vis- iting researcher to CERIAS, the Department of Computer Sciences at Purdue University, the US Naval Research Laboratory and the Research and Academic Computer Technology Institute in Patras, Greece.

Su-Chen Wang-- After receiving her Master of Education degree in Computer-Assisted Instruc- tion from University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, USA in 1983, she worked at the Computer and Network Center, National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan. She is a former Director of Administration and Consultant Division and former Director of Campus Information Management Division at the Computer and Network Center, NCKU for nine years. She has taught many courses in the field of Educational Technology and Computer Science at NCKU and some government institutes for over 20 years. She obtained her Ph.D. in Science and Technology Educational Research from Uni- versity of Waikao, New Zealand in 2008. She is an assistant professor at NCKU. Her research interests include e-learning, e-business, and information management system. She has presented many national and international conference papers and has been session chairs in the international conferences. She has published some journal papers, book chapters, and technical reports.
