It was late, they lit candles in Room 113 and attempted to summon a spirit. Suddenly the candles were blown out, and a tray fell to the floor smashing the glasses on it. In recent years members of the group have been dying in horrible circumstances, and always on a Friday 20th. The remaining friends have decided to return to the hotel to summon the same spirit and help it to find peace, hoping to end the curse. The dress code is black and white. The evening begins with pre-dinner drinks at 7.00pm and a delicious three course meal where you will meet the suspects behind a string of grisly murders. • LWT's Pioneering Technology
LONDON WEEKEND TELEVISION’S PIONEERING TECHNOLOGY by Phil Nott ITV in London is 65 years old in 2020, remaining vital throughout a period of external pressures as well as the changing viewing habits of the population. In this article, I look at the birth and evolution of London Weekend Television, and at the role that technology played in developing its sport and drama output. The biggest change in ITV’s history came with the franchise renewal process of 1968. As a result, the franchisees for London were two new companies - Thames Television on weekdays and London Weekend Television at weekends. LWT was a pioneering and innovative TV company. Many of the changes it introduced still have an impact today, whereas the battle to get there gives us an insight into the politics and business practices of the time. David Frost photo: via wembleyparkstudios.co.uk The story starts in 1967. The main ITV franchise holders had enjoyed prosperity since the late 1950s, with constantly increasing advertising revenues driven by the march towards consumerism. ‘You’ve never had it so good’ Prime Minister Harold Macmillan claimed at the time. Rediffusion London, the London weekday ITV company, was the dominant company. Rival ATV was split between the Midlands in the week and London at the weekends. Granada in the North was a weekday franchise that had an amicable commercial relationship with Rediffusion in London. ABC TV was the weekend TV specialist, with the franchise for both the North and the Midlands at the weekend. Its commercial wrangles were mainly with the other weekend franchise contractor ATV in London.

  • ITV Regions Statement of Programme Policy 2020
ANNUAL REVIEW OF 2020 FOR ITV BORDER & THE ENGLISH REGIONS AND STATEMENT FOR 2021 ITV REGIONAL NEWS AND COVID ITV’s regional news programmes are crucial to ITV and our viewers are at the heart of our programmes. ITV increased its regional news service in 2014 and now provides 18 regional and sub-regional services covering the whole UK and the Channel Islands, except for those covered by STV in Scotland. We provide news seven days a week with bulletins throughout the day on weekdays including a half hour flagship programme at 6pm. The last year has been extraordinary in the history of the UK and of the world. ITV has done its utmost to support and inform people through trusted, accurate and impartial news, information and often important reassurance during this extraordinary period in all our lives. Audiences have turned to broadcast news in the COVID crisis, and nations and regions news in particular has been of particular importance. ITV News teams right across the country have worked hard and in innovative ways to ensure that they could continue to provide viewers with a strong news service covering the coronavirus pandemic. The programmes have attracted big audiences over the last year. ITV News had a strong year in 2020 across all three national weekday bulletins, seeing year-on-year increases for volume and share. Even before the audience spike caused by the crisis, the number of people watching our regional news programme at 6pm had increased by nearly 10% since 2015 and the number watching our national news programme at 6.30pm had grown by nearly 5%.

Network FAREHAM EDITION NOVEMBER 2018 News from One Community Information Centre Fareham First Aid and Christmas Wrapping! On 30 October some of our volunteers attended a One Community Emergency First Aid course at Fareham Tesco’s Community Space. We all enjoyed it and learnt so much. One of the biggest causes of household deaths is choking, I myself had a very close call in a restaurant some years ago. The vest I am wearing (picture above) is a simple device demonstrating the movement required to assist someone caught in this situation. We would love to raise the £100 to buy one for the One Community Information Centre, so we could teach all our visitors. Come and let us wrap your presents at Fareham Shopping Centre and hopefully we can raise enough. We will be wrapping in the Information Centre for most of December and out in Fareham Shopping Centre on the 19th and 20th. People don’t go out as much due to the weather, problems seem to be more daunting when it is raining and dark. But it is also time to take stock, think about 2019, plan what is essential and agree what really needs to be done. With this in mind, we are participating in a county-wide survey to find out what the voluntary and community groups we work with think of the service we provide to you.
