To the Faithful of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, I am grateful for this opportunity to thank you and to congratulate you on your outstanding participation in the 1985 Parish Share Program. Your response to this year’s campaign will provide more than 60% of the support needed for the programs of the Diocese in fiscal 1985. Once again you have demonstrated the depth of your generosity, and for that I am sincerely grateful. In saying "thank you ", I speak not only for myself, but also for the hundreds of thousands of your brothers and sisters in the Pittsburgh Diocese who will benefit from your wonderful act of love. I speak on behalf of the unborn children who are protected by your generosity, on behalf of the young people who benefit from youth ministry programs, and on behalf of our senior citizens whose lives you have enriched. I express the gratitude of our school children, our children in CCD programs, our handicapped and disabled children and adults. I extend the thanks of those who participate in the programs of the Vocation Office, of our seminarians, as well as our retired priests and religious who have served us so faithfully throughout the years. I am grateful for all of your neighbors to whom the Parish Share Program has made available nearly 100 human services which respond to a variety of needs. Finally, I am pleased that through your generosity we have enough confidence and stability to make necessary changes and to plan for the future. These changes will always be designed to foster the growth and develop the potential of the Church in Southwestern Pennsylvania. All of our endeavors depend on the abundant gift of God’s grace as well as your faithful support. To those who have contributed to the Parish Share Program, those volunteers who have worked so selflessly for it success, and to all the priest, religious, and faithful of the Diocese, again I say "thank you". Please know that your generosity and love have made a significant contribution to the progress of the Kingdom of God in our midst. Sincerely in Christ, our Lord,

April 8, 1985 Bishop of Pittsburgh
