Li previously directed “Liu Yang He”, winner at the Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival. Kara Wai plays Phillip Keung’s wife in “Tracey” who is devastated to find out her husband wants to become a transgendered woman. Best Supporting Actor nominee Ben Yuen, an experienced theatre performer, has been in a number of films. Excited for his nomination, Yuen takes the chance to show gratitude to director Jun Li, veteran filmmaker Shu Kei, and investor Louis Koo. Kara Wai is grateful that her character allows for constant reinterpretations. Although not among the nominees for Best Director, Li’s “My World”—winner of the Sundance Short Film Competition—is nominated for Best Live Action Short Film. Fruit Chan’s “Three Husbands” is nominated for Best Leading Actress (Chloe Maayan). Aggie Lee Pak Yee’s “Muteum” is nominated for Best Animated Short Film. Both won Best Feature at the Chinese Documentary Festival in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Renowned film actress Gong Li is the head of the jury for the 55th Golden Horse Film Festival.
