See Him in Jerusalem, walking where the crowds are. THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S Margaret Clarkson, 1962; CCLI #3044672 Once these streets had sung to Him, now they cry for murder.

Such a frail and lonely Man holding up the heavy cross. The battle is the Lord’s! The harvest fields are white; See Him walking in Jerusalem on the road to save us. How few the reaping hands appear, their strength so slight! Yet victory is sure—we face a vanquished foe; See Him there upon the hill, hear the scorn and laughter. Then forward with the risen Christ to battle go!

Silent as a lamb He waits, praying to the Father. The battle is the Lord’s! Not ours is strength or skill, See the King Who made the sun and the moon and shining stars But His alone, in sovereign grace, to work His will. Let the soldiers hold and nail Him down so that He could save them. Ours, counting not the cost, unflinching, to obey; And in His time, His holy arm shall win the day. See Him there upon the cross, now no longer breathing. Dust that formed the watching crowds takes the blood of Jesus. The battle is the Lord’s! The Victor crucified Must with the travail of His soul be satisfied. Feel the earth is shaking now, see the veil is split in two, The pow’rs of hell shall fail, and all God’s will be done, And He stood before the wrath of God shielding sinners with His blood. Till every soul whom He hath giv’n to Christ be won.

See the empty tomb today—death could not contain Him. The battle is the Lord’s! Stand still, my soul, and see Once the Servant of the world, now in vict'ry reigning. The great salvation God has wrought revealed for thee. Lift your voices to the One Who is seated on the throne.
