Based in New York since 1981, The Tibet Fund is dedicated to preserving Tibetan cultural identity and heritage for future generations by supporting and strengthening Tibetan com- munities in India, , , and Tibet through programs for education, health, refu- gee rehabilitation, cultural preservation, elder care and community development.

The proceeds from the event will support our program to strengthen Tibetan Civil Society Organizations in India, Nepal, and Tibet that works to empower the most vulnerable section of the Tibetan community. We hope to raise a total of $125,000 at this fundraising event. A friend and a former board member of The Tibet Fund, who wishes to remain anonymous, has agreed to match every dollar up to $60,000.

Your donation will support the following urgent programs of the Tibetan community in India, Nepal and Tibet: Scholarship for Underprivileged Tibetan Girls: 16 deserving girls from poor family background in India and Tibet will receive a scholarship to pursue higher education and professional skill training to ensure their all-round self-reliance. The Tibet Fund will support this initiative to promote girls’ education through two women-initiated NGOs Drokmo and DeShema, based in India and Tibet respectively.

Tibetan Cancer Prevention and Awareness Program: In partnership with Tibetan Cancer Society in India, The Tibet Fund will support free cancer awareness programs, early detection camps and free cancer screening in different Tibetan settlements, schools, and monasteries benefiting thousands of low-income and vulnerable Tibetan refugees. Free screening would include mammography, breast examination, cervical test, oral cancer detection, gynecological test and oncologist consultation. Support for this project will help minimize cancer- related mortality rates, enable access to medical resources and assistance for the vulnerable patients, and help spread awareness about cancer within the Tibetan community.
