Ballot for the Assistant Rabbi The three candidates are listed below. There is a picture and a brief bio for each one. Please vote by ranking your top 2 candidates with 1 for your first choice and 2 for your second choice. When the ballots are counted, if no candidate gets a majority of votes, the candidate with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. If you selected the eliminated candidate as your first choice, your ballot will then be counted towards your second choice. ____ Rabbi Yitzi Shulman Rabbi Shulman came here on Feb. 19-20 He is a graduate of Mesifta Torah Tememah, Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, Ner Le’elef, and the Jerusalem Kollel where he received his rabbinic ordination and training under Rabbi Berkowitz. He currently resides in White Plains where he is the rabbi for a community outreach program. He is married and has three children. He spoke Friday night on the topic of: Love of Self and Neighbor: Striking a Balance. ____ Rabbi Sariel Malitzky Rabbi Malitzky came here on Feb. 26-27. He is a graduate of Yeshivat Ohr Yerushalayim, and Yeshiva University. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in 2008. He is currently a Rebbi and assistant director of recruitment at Torah Academy of Bergen County where he has taught since 2007. He also founded and is director of Camp Slapshots. He is married and has 5 children. He spoke Shabbos afternoon on the topic of: Lessons from a Mute. ____ Rabbi Yitzchak Brand Rabbi Brand came here on Mar. 4-5. He is a graduate of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh, and Yeshiva University. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in 2012. He is currently a rebbi at the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. He also teaches math and physics. He is married and has three children. He spoke Friday night on the topic of: Hotspot or not-spot: Unauthorized Use of Wireless in Halacha and Hashkafa. .

Agudah Convention’s Mental Health Professionals Track Draws Record Number of Participants December 3, 2020 COVID isn’t the only area in which we lack immunity. While issues of mental health have lurked in the shadows for years with many afraid of seeking help for fear of being stigmatized, our community has come a long way in the recent past when it comes to facing those particular problems head on. Since 2016, the annual convention of Agudath Israel of America has featured a dedicated track for mental health professionals, providing them with an opportunity to be guided by daas Torah on the halachic and hashkafic aspects of the many thorny issues that arise in the course of their work. The virtual platform of this year’s convention eliminated all geographic limitations, opening up the dedicated mental health track to a larger number of participants and presenters than ever before. More than 250 mental health professionals from across the United States, Canada, Europe and Israel took part in the program which had sessions running from 2 to 11 PM on Thursday, with a break for the participants to take part in the convention’s keynote address. The program opened with back-to-back question and answer sessions, that had Rav Yitzchok Berkovits, Rosh Kollel of the Jerusalem Kollel and Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Aish HaTorah, addressing inquiries regarding dating, marriage and shalom bayis, followed by Rav Sholom Kametesky, Rosh Yeshiva of Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia, fielding queries on yiddishkeit and mental health with a focuschinuch on and parenting. Rabbi Dovid Schustal, Rosh HaYeshiva, Beth Medrash Govoha, and the Kossover Rebbe, Rabbi Shraga Feivish Hager, offereddivrei chizuk to participants whose work touches on very delicate issues and can often be emotionally draining.

B”H Torah Live: PU Accelerator, Pitch Night -- One pager Project Brief: The City of Gold Working closely with Day School principals, famed gamification expert Yu-Kai Chou1, and kids themselves we are re-imagining student learning in the digital age. The City of Gold is a self-paced, educational platform for children to craft their own journey through Torah learning by completing an endless playlist of short films, infographics, quizzes, and real-world challenges. In the “game” the kids earn points that unlock features, drive higher status in the game -- and give them the ability to release real-world donations of products and services. When a child completes the Shabbos course for instance, challahs are given out in their name to those in need from bakeries in Jerusalem! Bio Rabbi Yaacov Deyo, the COO of Torah Live is a graduate of Harvard, and earned his semicha from Rav Yitzchak Berkovits of the Jerusalem Kollel. Previous to Torah Live, he built, tested, and raced high-performance ocean going trimarans, did research work in Nicaragua, spent a year on Fellowship doing conflict resolution in Northern Ireland, ran a homeless shelter in Boston, co-created SpeedDating with his students in LA, and co-founded a successful film studio. Timeline We are extremely excited to complete this project. Presently, we are 70% through design, and 50% through the build. Our plan is to start testing early-build milestones in February. Content creation for 1.0 is scheduled to be finished in March. Marketing will begin at that time, and advance throughout the summer for a start-of-the-school-year launch.
