2013-14 30th season in the SSMFL. First Team sixth in their first season back in the Premier Division, highest SSMFL place for 16 years. 78 points second best ever record in 22 seasons of the SSMFL Premier Division. Reserves created history with third successive victory in the South Midlands Floodlight Trophy. Second in Reserves Division One for second successive season. Adam Bolle set Club record scoring in ten successive games. Neil Conner appointed as Manager for the 2014/15 season. New 100-standing covered stand completed in March 2014. 2014-15 A difficult season ended with a highly successful celebration of the 40th anniversary of the FA Vase win with an international friendly against ASD Acquaviva at Lowfield on 19th April 2015. First Team avoided relegation despite many setbacks through the season, finishing nineteenth, and the Reserves ended up in tenth place having also suffered setbacks during the season. 2015-16 Unquestionably the Club’s most successful season since the Vase win in 1975. Third in the SSMFL, the best League campaign since 1970/71, top of the table for 8 weeks, a Club record -breaking run of four tie wins and seven games in the FA Cup in reaching the 3rd Qualifying Round for only the second time, (four wins, two draws and a replay defeat) and winners of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup. Crowd of over 400 v Brentwood in the FA Cup the largest seen at Lowfield since 1975. Three times winners of the Team of the Month award. Reserves won the Club’s first ever Reserves League title, were beaten finalists in the Challenge Trophy and won the SSMFL Reserves section play-off. Infrastructure improvements including an additional 50-seater stand and two turnstiles, earned the Club an ‘E' ground grading, suitable for Step 4 football. 2016-17 Paul Halsey appointed as Manager in May 2016 after Gavin Kelsey and the bulk of the First team left the Club. A rebuilt side acquitted itself well with a final placing of seventh, a Club record of 93 goals in SSMFL Premier Division football, and retention of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup with a 1-0 win against Wembley at Oxhey Jets. Reserves made a fourth appearance in five seasons in the Challenge Trophy but were beaten 3-0 by a strong Hertford side. Tom Cowell equalled a modern-day Club League scoring record with five of the seven goals scored against St. Margaretsbury. All the ground infrastructure work was finally completed during the course of the season. Bill Moye, Manager of the Vase winning side passed away in March 2017. 2017-18 Manager Paul Halsey walked out in January 2017, and after a short spell of interim management, Simon Riddle took over and was appointed for 2018/19. A final place of twelfth in the table was a relief after much player turbulence over 2 or 3 months. After the season ended, the Club learned it had been moved laterally to the Essex Senior League, thus ending a 34-year association with the (Spartan) South Midlands League. A full appeal hearing at the FA failed to have the decision reversed. The Reserves ended the season 3rd in the Development Division table, but after much consideration, an application was made for the Reserves to join the Herts. Senior County League for 2018/19 A very successful Under-18 squad formed the backbone of the First Team for the final few games of the season. Former Club Treasurer and stalwart supporter, Bob Parker, passed away at the age of 93 in May 2018. 2018-19 An historic season for the Club as the First Team took its place in the 20-club Essex Senior League, and the Reserves once again joined the Herts. Senior County League, this time in an 18-club Division One. Ninth place for the First Team and fourth for the Reserves reflected what was considered to be a satisfactory season for both teams. Having reached the semi-finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy the First Team lost 2-1 to a very strong Barkingside Reserves side, but the Final was not played due to issues that occurred in the other semi-final. 2019-20 Thanks to Covid-19 the season was declared null and void in late March, with the Lilywhites in seventh place in the table, and the Reserves fifth at Step 7. One of the FA Vase Final stars, Les Picking, passed away in March 2020. The First Team also lost out on a chance to make the Challenge Trophy semi-finals when their thrice-postponed quarter final tie became a victim of the pandemic. 2020/21 The Story continues….. Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Morrish Stadium for this intriguing FA Vase tie with Hoddesdon Town. Hoddesdon play in the Essex Senior League and will be a tough nut to crack but we have been playing well and will go into the match full of confidence. Our last home game saw us draw 1-1 with a very determined Hadleigh United who took the lead early on with an excellent strike from their number 7. We controlled the second half but nick punter in Hadleigh’s goal had an outstanding game. He could however do nothing about Cam Nicholls superb and deserved equaliser. We also hit the woodwork twice and were unlucky not to get all 3 points. Last Saturday we travelled to play Whitton United and having gone a goal down early on in the game we then scored 4 times. Man of the match Craig Nurse scored a brace with Cam Nicholls and Ryan Clark also scoring. Whitton pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but we comfortably held out for a well deserved victory. The Reserves drew 4-4 at home to Framlingham Town. Sam Waterson scored a brace to take his tally for the season to 9. Brocky and Birchy also scored The B team scored two second half goals to defeat a dogged Somersham Reserves outfit and they are now clear league leaders in SIL league C. The A team had a very good win away to Elmswell Reserves in a friendly. Enjoy the game Gordon A Few Lines On The F.A. Vase

Until 1974, football players were either professionals or amateurs. Professionals were paid to play by their clubs, and the only cup competitions such clubs were allowed to enter were the FA Cup and, after 1969, for clubs outside the Football League, the FA Trophy. Amateurs, on the other hand, were not paid (at least not officially) by their clubs, and such clubs had their own cup competition, the FA Amateur Cup. In 1974, with many of the top amateur players receiving payment for playing, abolished the distinction, scrapped the Amateur Cup and introduced the FA Vase for the majority of clubs who had previously played in the competition. Well over 200 clubs entered in the first season, 1974–75, when Hoddesdon Town of the Spartan League beat Epsom & Ewell of the Surrey Senior League 2–1 in the final at Wembley Stadium before a crowd of 9,000. In recent years, entry to the FA Vase has been restricted to clubs in the ninth and lower tiers of the English football league system (those in the four levels above the ninth qualified for the FA Trophy). Reorganisation of the National League System for 2004 onwards moved the dividing line down to the new "Step 5" (ninth tier overall). Clubs from the Channel Islands (First Tower United, St. Martins and Vale Recreation) and the Isle of Man (Douglas HSOB) also entered the Vase in the past. Guernsey F.C., who were formed in 2011 and played in the "Step 5" Combined Counties League, gained entry for the 2012–13 season and reached the semi-finals. Only six teams have won the FA Vase more than once. Whitley Bay are the only team to win the FA Vase three times in successive seasons, while Billericay Town, Tiverton Town and Halesowen Town have won back-to-back titles. As of 2017–18, at least one Northern League team has reached the final for 10 consecutive seasons, with teams from the league winning the title in all but two of those years. In 2017 Forest Green Rovers became the first FA Vase winners to go on to play in the English Football League, while one former Football League team (Glossop North End) have been beaten finalists. For the very first time BT Sport showed the 2016 FA Vase Final between Hereford and Morpeth Town live on 22 May as part of a double-header along with the 2016 FA Trophy Final. The 2019 winners were Chertsey Town, who beat Cray Valley Paper Mills 3–1 at Wembley Stadium. Reserve Team Up–Date Page

Introducing Our Squad For 2020/21

Trevor Collins - Manager. Had 2 games as caretaker manager: a vastly experienced former Bury Town player who turned to management under Richard Wilkins. Was caretaker manager for two games last October the 2nd of which saw him mastermind an excellent victory in the Suffolk Premier Cup away to Whitton United. Made his debut as full time manager in March against former club Bury Town before Covid 19 brought the season to a premature end. We have seen positive signs in pre season that Trev can create a young exciting team for Walsham supporters to be proud of Trevor Newman - Assistant Manager. First played for the first team back in 1994-05. Became a regular in 1995-06 and scored the vital goal which kept us in the SIL Senior Division that season otherwise we may never have made it this far. Won two Omnico cups with Walsham before joining Bury Town where he spent three seasons before re -joining us and became our regular captain. Led us into the Eastern Counties League in 2004 and was captain when we won the Suffolk Senior Cup in 2006 and the Division One Title a year later. Retired from 1st team football at the end of 2013-14. Became assistant to Paul Smith in the 2017/18 season and a year later became the boss following Paul’s resignation a year later. Led the side to a top half finish. A poor start to last season saw him resign at the end of September but he readily returned in March to assist his good friend. They are former Bury Town teammates. Martin Lash - Physio - Martin was bought in to the first team picture by Chris Soames. His enthusiasm, knowledge of treatments and ability to lighten the mood make him a very valuable member of the team. Organising the match day kit, balls etc. is a massive part and a great help. Martin also has his level two goalkeepers coaching badge. Terrible dress sense on a night out occasionally makes it past 10.30 PM Graham Styles - Management Assistant - Nobby as he is better known has been involved with the first team set up for twenty years now. A big big Ipswich fan who cannot spell Norwich properly. Good fun on a night out. Sam Peters - Defender - Sam joined us in 2014 from Team Bury. He settled in quickly and another one who goes about his work quietly. A really good left foot and has a good set piece delivery. Sam is quick and showed the lads how the bleep test should be done in the summer. A quality addition to the team. Not seen him buy a round at the bar yet. Can also play in midfield. Became captain at the start of last season Craig Nurse - Midfield. I Nursey joined us for the last two months of the 2015-16 season and was an instant hit with the rest of the lads. Strong and powerful and scores vital goals. A key asset to us. Has been made club captain following Matt Morton’s departure. Keen sportsman and likes a bet but don’t listen to too many of his tips. Ryan Clark - Midfield - Ryan arrived from Felixstowe in 2015. Brilliant on the ball and can be one of our best assets for years to come. Ryan has settled in brilliantly, he just hasn't bought a round or sang a song yet. The quality this boy brings onto the pitch we may let him off the song. Very skilful performer. Just ask Godmanchester's left back in 2018/19 he enjoyed a short spell with Stowmarket Town before returning to the fold last season. Ryan Twinn- Midfield - A player who graduated from the under 18s. Attacking midfielder who scores vital goals. A former graduate of our under 18s. Continued Over Page…..

Barry Lynn - Goalkeeper - Long serving goalkeeper. Spent many seasons in the Reserves and was a member of the side that won the Suffolk Senior Reserves Cup and the Chell Trophy in the same season. Yet another player who started in the under 18’s. A good all round sportsman . Most impressive at Right back . Joe Boulter - Midfield - Enjoyed an impressive first season with us. Now starting his fourth season. Was another product of the under 18’s before enjoying a scholarship in the states. A key player for us. Lee Hammond - Midfield - Re-joined from Hadleigh in 2017/18. Another product of our under 18’s. A great engine who worked tirelessly to become a regular in the team in the last 3 seasons. Popular lad with players and Supporters. Steve Fenner - Goalkeeper - Has re-joined from Debenham. Yet another of our former under 18’s and in my view the best young keeper we have produced.Had an excellent season on his return from Debenham in 2018/19 but missed alot of last season through injury Matthew Collins - Midfield - Young player with a lot of promise. Played for Mildenhall before signing for us prior to the 2018/19 season .Settled quickly before suffering a major injury which kept him out for most of that season. Dan Stobbart - Goalkeeper - Has Bern captain of our under 18s. An outstanding goalkeeper who has made a big impression here at Walsham. A young lad with a big future ahead of him. Ian Miller - Defender - A former pro with both Ipswich Town and Darlington. Now a pkayer/coach reunited with his old pal Trev Collins who he knows from his time at Bury Town. Dusty still has plenty to offer with his vast knowledge and experience.
