Losing any Country station is a disappointment in this business, but losing one in a top five market is borderline devastating and inevitably triggers some industry-wide soul searching. The demise of Entercom’s KBWF (The Wolf)/San Francisco last Friday (CAT 4/15) is especially frustrating because it’s the third FM Country outlet in 10 years to fold its tent in that city. Launched live during CRS opening ceremonies in 2007 amid great fanfare, the Wolf restored to San Francisco after the two years of hibernation which followed Bonneville KZBR’s (The Bear) departure in 2005.
