We inspire students to learn about the rich and complex history of the world’s oldest continuous living culture on our unique walking tour. Led by experienced Aboriginal guides, let us show you and your students the rich ’s CBD on this walking tour of Birrarung Marr (the ). Discover the significance of this important gathering place. The Birrarung Wilam walk starts at our build- ing and takes you through and down to the Birrarung Wilam Common Ground Abo- riginal art installations. With one of our experienced Aboriginal guides, you will learn how the Melbourne CBD has changed over time and also the significance of the Birrarung to the local Kulin peoples. You will gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of this incredible location, an important gathering place for the peoples of the Kulin Nation and one of Melbourne’s most popular meeting hubs. After the tour, take the time to explore our exhibition galleries where you will see the work of local Abo- riginal artists presented as part of our annual exhibition program. In our permanent collection galleries, your students will be surrounded by works from the largest collection of Koorie art and artefacts in Aus- tralia. It is here they can discover more about the strong and continuing culture of Aboriginal grounded in a 60,000-year-old history. Our purpose is to provide you and your students with an authentic experience of Aboriginal art and cul- ture from the First Peoples of South East Australia by showcasing this dynamic living culture in new ways.
