2012 COMMUNITY FOOTBALL LUNCHEON

Approximately 150 people attended the annual SA Community Football Luncheon on Saturday October 6 at AAMI Stadium to once again pay tribute to and celebrate all the achievements of Leagues, teams, players, volunteers and supporters.

Community Football Board Chairman David Shipway welcomed all attendees including SA Community Football major partner, Motor Accident Commission, and presented MAC CEO Ben Tuffnell with a framed State Country jumper in appreciation of their continued support. Mr Shipway also paid tribute to the many volunteers who Ben Hook interviews SA Football Hall of Fame inductee consistently give their time to ensure Community Football Don McSweeny continues to provide opportunities for people to be involved in our great game.

SA Football Commission Chairman addressed all in attendance providing valuable insight for Community Football leaders into where the SANFL is positioned with regards to the sale of its two AFL licences and the move to Oval in 2014.

During the remainder of the afternoon, the JLT Administrator of the year was announced and AFL and SANFL Merit Awards were presented. Master of Ceremonies Ben Hook entertained with interviews of special guests, SA Football Hall of Fame inductees Don Northern Regional Football Coordinator Craig Oliphant with McSweeny and Garry McIntosh, along with Broughton Mundoora Football Club A Grade coach Joh Duffield, who Broughton Mundoora FC Senior Coach Joh Duffield featured on the ABC 7.30 Report during the year.

All award recipients delivered a common theme in their acceptance speeches, citing their long-term involvements and outstanding contributions to Community Football were purely as a result of their love for the game and a desire to continue to be involved. They all valued the many friendships that had been formed and thanked their families for allowing them to continue to be involved over such a long period.
