If it is anything like our last sale, it is sure to be one for the books. A special thanks to all the consignors and bidders who participated in making the May auction such a success. The sale brought in $9.9 million against a pre-sale estimate of $6-9 million, making it the third largest sale in HDH history. The Dr. Lee Smith Collection was truly remarkable and one we will not forget. We were honored to represent so many stunning consignments. This auction is packed with the very best of Bordeaux and Burgundy as well as gems from around the world. Several truly exceptional groups will be on the block with deep selections of Bordeaux (728 lots, est. $1.7-2.5 million) and Burgundy (527 lots, est. $1.3-1.9 million) as Paul Hart well as an impressive range from California, Italy, and Champagne. June 22nd begins with a collection of Exceptional Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône and Californian Wines from the Cellar of a Repeat Consignor on the East Coast (lots 1-95), followed by a parcel of Assorted French, Italian, and Californian Wine from Premier Producers Such as Latour, DRC, Ornellaia, and Dominus (lots 96-209). Bidders seeking DRC, Rousseau, and Jadot should carefully browse the extensive array of Burgundy offered in our fi rst session. The depth and quality of the second session will bring you back to the bidding fl oor on Saturday, June 23rd. To start the day, we will feature The Cellar of Barry MacLean (lots 1124- 1378). The group showcases Bordeaux dating back to 1955 and features a stunning cache of First Growths, many in full cases. Bidders should note the array of 1982 vintage offerings in the collection, including a full case of 1982 Château Lafi te Rothschild (lot 1153) and 10 bottles of 1982 Château Lafl eur (lot 1179). Closely following this consignment will be wines from The Josue V. Harari Collection (lots 1744-1750), which we are pleased to offer once again.
