how much weight are you taking home?* * AADC 38th ANNUAL AWARDS 1.81 kg Presidents Address Last year we asked ‘What would you give?’ This year I ask, ‘What did you do?’ ‘What have we done?’ and ‘What did we achieve?’ As a club our goal is to always work toward improving the levels of creativity within South Australia while ensuring that our members are listened to and consulted with, in an effort to ensure we are facilitating the wishes of our creative community. Last year we listened and promised changes. Our relationship with the TCC has continued to prosper, while also working toward forming partnerships with The Australian Cinematographers Society, AGDA, Newscorp, The Adelaide Media Club and ADMA. These partnerships have resulted in immediate benefits for our members, such as the cross promotion of previously exclusive events and the benefit of members rates. Last year we asked you to keep an eye on the festival season, promising to deliver a new event in partnership with the TCC and Newscorp. The Result? A visit from Justin and Fabio of The Monkeys, visiting Adelaide for en evening of creative discussion, a showcase of work and of course a drink or two. I applaud the events committee for their efforts, as have many of our members whom attended. We realize the importance of our traditional social events, but aim to improve these with the additional of either an educational or creative element, to assist professional growth while remaining true to our clubs long and proud traditions. The AADC hopes to co-host another events prior to our Christmas party. As a state we have experienced significant change within an economic environment showing little consistency, including the departure of Clemenger BBDO Adelaide as a brand. But we need to move forward. How do we continue to grow our businesses? Work hard and understand that the best work produced within this state (shown on this night), is on par with your peers nationally. As the longest running creative club in Australia, we have a rich history. When looking through our annuals our community has achieved much, thanks to all the Life Members of the club, we applaud you. Whilst we have been navigating difficult economic conditions, the contribution of our sponsors has not only remained consistent, our sponsorship partners have grown, this is due to the hard work of a small group of often-unappreciated committee members. I’d like to take this moment to personally thank you for your efforts. To our platinum sponsors Cummins and Partners, Cutler Brands, Jamshop, KWP! and KOJO, our deepest thanks for your continued support. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the AADC executive and sub committees, without your hard work and dedication to ensuring the prolonged success of our club, tonight would not be possible. As we work toward becoming the most organized, disciplined, financial and successful club representing the creative industry in Australia we seek your assistance. This will only be possibly via continued successful partnerships and alliances, but more importantly with your assistance. Only through your future contribution and feedback from our members can we ensure the continued success of the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club. Enjoy tonight, you’ve earned it.
