The aim of EurASEAA - the European Association of Material Culture and Heritage Southeast Asian Archaeologists - is to facilitate communication between different disciplines, to present current work in the field, and to stimulate future research. This international initiative aims to foster international scholarly cooperation in the field of Southeast Asian archaeology, Papers from the Fourteenth International art history and philology. This volume focuses substantially on topics under the broad themes Conference of the European Association of of archaeology and heritage, material culture, environmental archaeology, osteoarchaeology, historic and prehistoric archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, and long-distance contact, trade and Southeast Asian Archaeologists exchange. Her Edited by research in Southeast Asia has mostly focused on cave sites in Laos, Malaysian Borneo, and the Philippine island of Palawan, where she co-directs the Palawan Island Palaeohistory Research Helen Lewis Project. The free pdf download model supports dissemination in areas of the world where budgets are more severely limited, and also allows individual academics from all over the world the opportunity to access the material privately, rather than relying solely on their university or public library. Print copies, nevertheless, remain available to individuals and institutions who need or prefer them. The material is refereed and/or peer reviewed. Copy-editing takes place prior to submission of the work for publication and is the responsibility of the author. Academics who are able to supply print- ready material are not charged any fee to publish (including making the material available as a free-to- download pdf). In some instances the material is type-set in-house and in these cases a small charge is passed on for layout work. Our principal effort goes into promoting the material, both the free-to-download pdf and print edition, where Access Archaeology books get the same level of attention as all of our publications which are marketed through e-alerts, print catalogues, displays at academic conferences, and are supported by professional distribution worldwide. The free pdf download allows for greater dissemination of academic work than traditional print models could ever hope to support. It is common for a free-to-download pdf to be downloaded hundreds or sometimes thousands of times when it first appears on our website. Print sales of such specialist material would take years to match this figure, if indeed they ever would. Mike Morwood, who passed away in 2013, had been planning to come to EurASEAA14 to give a public lecture but had to cancel because of illness. He would have given the major lecture from the conference related to the Dublin European City of Science Year, talking about – what else? – the spectacular finding of Homo floresiensis, for which he and his colleagues were world famous. An obituary for Prof Morwood written by Iain Davidson, a colleague at the University of New England, can be found at: <http://www. humanities.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/AAH-Obit-Morwood-2013.pdf>. Wilhelm Solheim II passed away in 2014. Prof Solheim is best known for his work on trade and exchange in later prehistoric island and mainland Southeast Asia, such as the Nusantao Trade and Exchange Network. He was also one of the founders of institutions in Southeast Asian archaeology, such as the IPPA Congress and the Asian Perspectives journal. After retiring from an academic career at the University of Hawai’i, in his later years he was based at the University of Philippines, where he encouraged

    A HIstoRy Of Anlong Veng CommunIty A wedding in Anlong Veng in the early 1990s. (Cover photo) Aer Vietnamese forces entered Cambodia in 1979, many Khmer Rouge forces scaered to the jungles, mountains, and border areas. Mountain 1003 was a prominent Khmer Rouge military base located within the Dangrek Mountains along the Cambodian-Thai border, not far from Anlong Veng. From this military base, the Khmer Rouge re-organized and prepared for the long struggle against Vietnamese and the People’s Republic of Kampuchea government forces. Eventually, it was from this base, Khmer Rouge forces would re-conquer and sele Anlong Veng in early 1990 (and a number of other locations) until their re-integration into Cambodian society in late 1998. In many ways, life in Anlong Veng was as difficult and dangerous as it was in Mountain 1003. As one of the KR strongholds, Anlong Veng served as one of the key launching points for Khmer Rouge guerrilla operations in Cambodia, and it was subject to constant aacks by Cambodian government forces. Despite the perilous circumstances and harsh environment, the people who lived in Anlong Veng endeavored, whenever possible, to re-connect with and maintain their rich cultural heritage. Tossed from the seat of power in 1979, the Khmer Rouge were unable to sustain their rigid ideo- logical policies, particularly as it related to community and family life. During the Democratic Movement of the Khmer Rouge Final Stronghold Kampuchea regime, 1975–79, the Khmer Rouge prohibited the traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony. Weddings were arranged by Khmer Rouge leaders and cadre, who oen required mass ceremonies, with lile regard for tradition or individual distinction.

The research data uses secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and related institutions in each region of the Regional Office in East Java Province. The analysis used in this study is the Klassen Typology using time series data for 2010-2016. The results of the analysis show that: a. based on Typology Klassen Bakorwil I from ten districts / cities there are eight districts / cities that are in relatively disadvantaged areas; b. based on the typology of Klassen Bakorwil II from eight districts / cities there are four districts / cities that are in relatively disadvantaged areas; c. based on the typology of Klassen Bakorwil III from nine districts / cities there are three districts / cities that are in relatively lagging regions; d. based on the Typology of Klassen Bakorwil IV from 4 districts / cities there are three districts / cities that are in relatively lagging regions; and e. based on the Typology of Klassen Bakorwil V from seven districts / cities there are five districts / cities that are in relatively disadvantaged areas. Grieve Geophysics Division, Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario KIA OY3, Canada INTRODUCTION Impact structures are the dominant landform on planets that have retained portions of their earliest crust. The present surface of the Earth, however, has comparatively few recognized impact structures. This is due to its relative youthfulness and the dynamic nature of the terrestrial geosphere, both of which serve to obscure and remove the impact record. Although not generally viewed as an important terrestrial (as opposed to planetary) geologic process, the role of impact in Earth evolution is now receiving mounting consideration. For example, large-scale impact events may hav~~ been responsible for such phenomena as the formation of the Earth's moon and certain mass extinctions in the biologic record. The importance of the terrestrial impact record is greater than the relatively small number of known structures would indicate. Impact is a highly transient, high-energy event. It is inherently difficult to study through experimentation because of the problem of scale. In addition, sophisticated finite-element code calculations of impact cratering are gen­ erally limited to relatively early-time phenomena as a result of high com­ putational costs. Terrestrial impact structures provide the only ground truth against which computational and experimental results can be com­ pared. These structures provide information on aspects of the third dimen­ sion, the pre- and postimpact distribution of target lithologies, and the nature of the lithologic and mineralogic changes produced by the passage of a shock wave.

    FEREN CON CE PROGRAM laboration with CSTM/ In col SCTM IC TM 2011 WE’RE PROUD TO WELCOME THE 41ST WORLD CONFERENCE OF ICTM to Memorial University and to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a unique corner of Canada, the only part that was once an independent country and then the newest Canadian province (since 1949) but one of the oldest meeting points for natives and new- comers in North America. With four Aboriginal cultures (Inuit, Innu, Mi’kmaq, Métis); deep French, English, Irish, and Scottish roots; and a rapidly diversifying contemporary society, our citizens have shared a dramatic history, including a tsunami, an occupation during WWII, a fragile dependence on the sea including a cod moratorium in recent decades, a key role in the events of 9/11, and more recently, an oil boom. Its nickname – The Rock – tells a lot about its spectacular geography but also about its resilient culture. Traditional music and dance are key ingredients in life here, as we hope you will learn in the week ahead. Our meetings will take place at Memorial University, shown in the foreground of the photo below, and in the Arts & Culture Centre just to the west of the campus. To celebrate the conference themes in music itself, and to bring the public in contact with the remarkable range of scholars and musicians in our midst, we have organized the SOUNDshift Festival to run concurrently with the World Conference of ICTM. Five concerts, open to delegates and the general public, workshops by ICTM members and musicians featured on the concerts, and films are available as part of this festival.
