Both residents of the Kitsap Peninsula and visitors from Seattle and beyond will delight in this family-friendly production at the beautiful Kitsap Forest Theater, located just west of Bremerton. A quarter-mile trail transports visitors to another time and place where stories for all ages have come to life since 1923. The presentation of our spring show coincides with the blooming of the wild rhododendrons that grow along the hillsides and down the trail to the theater. Generations of theatergoers have enjoyed the scenic drive or ferry ride to the theater, and often come early to picnic under the firs before the trail to the theater opens at 1:00 pm. Enjoy our treehouse play structure or hike to Big Tree before or after the show. With The Wizard of Oz in the spring and Tarzan in the summer, the Kitsap Forest Theater’s 2017 season brings two popular shows to life on our unique stage. These uplifting and family-friendly musicals will appeal to young and old alike – treat yourself to a “day away” in the forest and enjoy theater inspired by a magical place.

The guide could be used by teachers who do not have access to the televised series as a framework for career education activities. Two constants relevant tosurvival (people are dependent on their environment; people are dependent on people) form the basis for the concepts developed in the lessons; the series does not emphasize vocational decision making, but provides the early exposure to the world of work necessary to develop realistic identification with people and needs. Each lesson guide presents the concepts to be developed, the lesson topic, its focus, the location of the television film, and background information. For esAch lesson, several in- and out-of-classroom activities are suggested. She purpose of each of these activities is given, the necessary materials listed, and the procedurespecifically detailed, and illustrated where necessary. Appended to the guide are program music, student and teacher resources, and clusters of occupational models. (AJ) TABLE OF CONTENTS Rationale for this Series The Series at a Glance iii 1 1.

  • “THE WIZARD of OZ” Lyrics by E. Y. HARBURG Music by HAROLD
“THE WIZARD OF OZ” For the Wicked Witch. Lyrics by E. Y. HARBURG Who began to twitch, and was reduced to just a stitch Of what was once the Wicked Witch. Music by HAROLD ARLEN Munchkin #1 We thank you very sweetly, for doing it so neatly. Munchkin #2 SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW You've killed her so completely, (Academy Award Best Song, 1939) That we thank you very sweetly. Glinda Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, Let the joyous news be spread, There's a land that I heard of The Wicked Old Witch at last is dead! Once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, DING DONG! THE WITCH IS DEAD And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true. Munchkins Someday I'll wish upon a star Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. And wake up where the clouds are far Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! Behind me. Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed. Away above the chimney tops Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. That's where you'll find me. She's gone where the goblins go, Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Below - below - below. Birds fly over the rainbow. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out. Why then, oh why can't I? Ding Dong the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low. If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, Let them know Why, oh why can't I? The Wicked Witch is dead! Mayor MUNCHKIN LAND As Mayor of the Munchkin City, In the County of the Land of Oz, Glinda I welcome you most regally.

Esther’s Lament (Sung to the tune of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”) Why am I going crazy? Why so stressed…? This life’s not what I planned for I’m just so damned depressed I had vision and passion years ago Contracts, parents and deadlines… Which is my biggest foe? I have so much upon my head Each morning faced with daily dread… Imagine? I work and work – no time to spare And self-reflection’s just so rare (Pause – stops as if making a realization) I don’t like children…
