Det finns många exempel på duettpar där den mörka, raspiga rösten har mött den ljusa och unga rösten, och ljuv musik har skapats. Senaste exemplet är gamla Belle and Sebastian- sångerskan Isobel Campbell och Mark Lanegan (som hörts i Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, Gutter Twins etc). När Isobel Campbell träffade Mark Lanegan i Glasgow för några år sedan, efter en konsert med Queens of the Stone Age, gick hon hem och började skriva musik till ett samarbete. Lanegan hade uttryckt sin förkärlek för hennes musik och hon nappade direkt. Efter att ha skickat låtar fram och tillbaka över Atlanten fanns det till slut ett helt album där de båda gjorde det mesta varsin sida av den stora pölen. "Ballad of the Broken Seas" var ett filmiskt album med stämingar från lägereldar i den allra mörkaste amerikanska södern. I år kom rätt så överraskande en andra skiva, "Sunday at Devil Dirt" och det är ännu en skiva för mörka höstkvällar, oändligt vacker. Cambpell är även här den som står bakom en stor del av materialet - hon har gjort musik, text och har producerat. Inför första skivan uttryckte hon en viss oro över att projektet skulle ses som en freakshow - "You know, the young virgin being fed to Satan", men just kontrasterna mellan det ljusa och mörka är det som fascinerar och skapar spännande nyanser.
