QPAC’S TONY GOULD GALLERY GETS SET TO BE ALL DRESSED UP

The next FREE exhibition at the Tony Gould Gallery in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) All Dressed Up; Costumes from Broadway to Hollywood commences on Tuesday 4 December and will showcase the costumes from much loved stage and screen performances.

The exhibition will introduce and celebrate the unique collection of Brisbane- based collector and long-time QPAC associate Nicholas Inglis. Inglis started to work front-of-house at QPAC when he was a student. Upon finishing his studies and entering the legal profession he continued his love of theatre and the arts by searching out and purchasing costumes and memorabilia from Hollywood and beyond. Inglis has developed a unique collection and the exhibition at QPAC will feature more than thirty of his collected costumes and accessories.

Ranging from the to the 2000s, the exhibition explores the changing relationship between stage and screen by showcasing costumes from films based on stage shows, such as the film version of Annie, costumes from original films that have been made into stage shows, such as Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and costumes created for the stage.

Costumes in this exhibition are from a wide range of performances and some were worn by infamous stars including , Sammy Davis Jnr., , , , , , , , and .
