Old Crow Medicine Show Announce July 1St Release of Remedy Via Ato Records
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 2014 OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW ANNOUNCE JULY 1ST RELEASE OF REMEDY VIA ATO RECORDS BAND ANNOUNCES BIGGEST HEADLINING TOUR TO DATE “SWEET AMARILLO”, FIRST SINGLE, OUT NOW + ALBUM AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER Nashville, TN – Heavily celebrated Grammy Award winning band Old Crow Medicine Show has announced their upcoming new album Remedy, due out July 1 via ATO Records. Remedy is full of catchy melodies, quirky and often humorous lyrics, all executed with mesmerizing musicianship. Ten years after the massive success of folk anthem “Wagon Wheel”, which started as a track on a Bob Dylan work tape later finished by fiddler/band leader Ketch Secor, Remedy features a new Dylan/Old Crow penned collaboration on the new track “Sweet Amarillo” one of the album’s many highlights. Remedy also features the return of producer Ted Hutt (Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Gaslight Anthem), who produced 2012’s highly praised Carry Me Back. Long before the resurgence of folk and roots rock, Old Crow Medicine Show was performing their fiery style of amped up old-time music, cultivating a diverse fan base who thrive on the band’s energetic performances. The songs on Remedy are chock full of the same raw energy, swagger and drive that has made rabid fans of everyone from hipsters to college students to traditional music purists. “This is country music for people who think country music needs a whoopin'’ says Secor, who adds, “Country music that knows how deep its roots run--- from the dirtiest blues to the folkiest folk, the songwriters, the crooners and the Outlaws, to the Opry stage; it's all here”. -

2012 Final Report Illustrated
2012 Annual Report We help tribal peoples defend their lives, protect their lands and determine their own futures. 2012 This report covers Survival’s work in the year up to the beginning of 2012 Objectives WHEREVER THEY ARE IN THE WORLD, TRIBAL PEOPLES ARE DEPRIVED OF THEIR LIVELIHOOD AND WAY OF LIFE; DRIVEN FROM THEIR LAND BY MINING, LOGGING OR SETTLERS; FLOODED BY DAMS OR FORCIBLY RELOCATED IN ORDER TO MAKE WAY FOR CATTLE RANCHES OR GAME PARKS. SUCH ABUSE IS OFTEN JUSTIFIED BY THE CLAIM THAT TRIBAL PEOPLES ARE SOMEHOW ‘PRIMITIVE’ OR ‘BACKWARD’. SURVIVAL IS WORKING TOWARDS A WORLD IN WHICH TRIBAL PEOPLES’ DIVERSE WAYS OF LIFE ARE UNDERSTOOD AND ACCEPTED, OPPRESSION OF THEM IS NOT TOLERATED AND THEY ARE FREE TO LIVE THEIR OWN WAYS OF LIFE ON THEIR OWN LAND IN PEACE, FREEDOM, AND SECURITY. our aims Survival works to: • Help tribal people to exercise their right to survival and self-determination; • Ensure that the interests of tribal peoples are properly represented in all decisions affecting their future; • Secure for tribal peoples the ownership and use of adequate land and resources, and achieve recognition of their rights over their traditional lands. our methods education and awareness Survival provides material about tribal peoples for schools and for the wider public. We promote the understanding that tribal peoples are just as ‘modern’ as the rest of us, with the right to live on their own land, according to their own beliefs. support and projects Survival works with hundreds of tribal organizations around the world. We support tribal peoples’ own projects and offer them and their organizations a platform from which to address the world. -
Old Crow Medicine Show
OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW Old Crow Medicine Show started busking on street corners in 1998 New York state and up through Canada, winning audiences along the way with their boundless energy and spirit. They eventually found themselves in Boone, North Carolina where they caught the attention of folk icon Doc Watson while playing in front of a pharmacy. He invited the band to play at his festival, MerleFest, helping to launch their career. Shortly thereafter the band was hired to entertain crowds between shows at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. It's been over nineteen years since these humble beginnings. The band has gone on to receive the honor of being inducted as members of the Grand Ole Opry, and have won two Grammy Awards: "Best Folk Album" for Remedy (2014) and "Best Long Form Music Video" for Big Easy Express (2013). Additionally, their classic single, "Wagon Wheel", received the RIAA's Platinum certification in 2013 for selling over 1,000,000 copies. Old Crow Medicine Show has toured the world playing renowned festivals and venues such as: Bonnaroo, Red Rocks Amphitheater, Cambridge Folk Festival, Coachella, London's Roundhouse, The Ryman Auditorium, The Barclays Center, New Orleans Jazz Fest, The Fox Theater Atlanta, The Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Summerstage in Central Park NYC, Forecastle, the Newport Folk Festival, and several appearances on A Prairie Home Companion. Gutachter: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Freisleben 2. Gutachter: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Merzenich Tag der m¨undlichen Pr¨ufung:21. Dezember 2000 Acknowledgements The material presented in this thesis is based on the research I have done during my time as a research assistant in the Parallel Systems Research Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Siegen. I would like to thank all those collaborators who made this research not only possible, but also worthwhile and enjoyable. The following persons I thank individually. First of all, I have to thank my academic mentor Bernd Freisleben who introduced me to the secrets of academic work and who gave me the freedom to focus my research in the direction I asked for. His financial support for attending several international conferences allowed me to get in touch with other researchers in the field of evolutionary computation and combinatorial optimization. I have learned so much by discussing with my international colleagues { not only about our common research subjects. Many thanks go to Wolfgang Merzenich, my second referee, who showed much interest in my work. Furthermore, I wish to thank Udo Kelter for his part-time financial support in the first year of my research. Several other people at our department have supported my work through all these years.
