City of Portsmouth’s Schedule for Christmas and New Year’s Holidays

The City of Portsmouth announces the schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays. Municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24th, and on Friday, December 25th, for the Christmas Holiday. For the New Year’s Holiday, municipal offices will be closed on Friday, 1st. As a reminder, City offices, libraries, museums, and recreation centers are currently closed to the public due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Trash Collection There will be no trash, recycling, or bulk collections on Friday, December 25th, or on Friday, January 1st.  Friday, December 25th, routes will be collected in advance on Wednesday, December 23rd.  Friday, January 1st, routes will be collected in advance on Wednesday, December 30th. Portsmouth Public Library Curbside library service will be closed on Thursday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th, and Friday, January 1st. Please call 393-8501 for more information. Your Digital Branch Library offers virtual services 24/7! These include a variety of informational, educational, and entertainment options. Patrons without a current card can now get a digital library card to access all of the free resources available. Portsmouth Museums are closed, but offer a variety of online learning fun and shopping!

Did you know? The Portsmouth Museums recently launched a new online shop at portsmuseumshop.com. The Gift Shop will allow shoppers to purchase online for the first time in the Museums’ history. Museum gift shoppers will have access to a myriad of unique merchandise including items from the Children’s Museum of , the Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum gift shops. Items for purchase include fun and educational games for kids (including companies like Melissa and Doug, and Thomas the Train), a variety of jewelry and home , holiday items, and historical books. Golf Courses City golf courses are following the strict State and CDC guidelines for operation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tee times and golf carts are limited. Please see below and call ahead to ensure availability. The Links Golf Course, located at 140 City Park Avenue, will be open on Christmas Eve at 7 a.m. The Pro Shop will close at 3:30 p.m. and carts must be in by 4 p.m. Closed on Christmas Day.
