12 DAYS OF

What is ? We often forget that is not just one day, Dec 25th, but an entire season where we celebrate the birth of ! We have spent four weeks of preparing for Christmas and now we get to celebrate! Celebrate Christmastide in the following ways: keep your Christmas and decorations up, keep lighting your Advent and , drive around town to look at , sing Christmas carols, keep wishing people Merry Christmas, keep your nativity up, continue to bake Christmas or treats to share and keep celebrating Jesus! Also, during Christmastide we remember that the were journeying to see Jesus but had not yet made it to . Nativity Building: Magi and the Star The Magi lived in the East, far away from Bethlehem where Jesus was born. At the birth of Jesus, God put a star in the sky to proclaim to all the world that God's promised savior had been born to bring hope, love, joy and to the world! The Magi went on a long journey to follow the star to Jesus so they could honor and worship him. Star Use the included wooden star, paint and rhinestones to decorate your star. God put a star unlike any other in the sky so the world would know something special had happened. Once you finish decorating your star, place it with your as a guide for the Magi to find Jesus. Magi Use paint or permanent markers to decorate this week's wooden peg figures as the magi who followed the star to Jesus. The Bible never tell us how many wise people there were but since they brought three , we often imagine that three Magi traveled together to find Jesus. When you finish decorating the Magi, you will not be adding them to your nativity scene. They will be going on a journey during Christmastide to finally get to Jesus! Wonder As you decorate, wonder together about these questions: -I wonder what the Magi brought with them on their journey to find Jesus? -I wonder how they traveled to Bethlehem and if they got tired on the journey? Wandering Wisemen During the 12 Days of Christmas, have your 3 Magi peg people go on a journey through your home to get to baby Jesus in your nativity scene. You can make this fun and silly for your kids in the same way you might do something like on the Shelf. You might try having them posed in your bathroom with the toilet paper for a potty break or raiding the fridge for food. Your kids might find them hitching a ride on their backpacks because they are tired of walking or stealing a phone to use the GPS because they are lost. Whether you go big or small, move them around during the 12 days of Christmas so your kids can find them each day as they journey towards Jesus!
