SENIOR CLASS

To be a senior is the ambition of every freshman that ever entered a college; it's the determination of every sophomore and the next step for every junior. This exalted position is looked on with awe as one that can be Idled by a plucky few who have escaped the ax in the Math Department and hurdled the obsta- cles in the Mech Department. The holder of the coveted title has earned his rank by wading through four years of eight o'clock classes, six o'clock labs, twelve o'clock bull sessions and three in the morning study jags. This senior is a well rounded fellow who has a nickname for every prof on the hill, can cheat on quizzes with the utmost finess, has the old quizzes for every course in his department and can smell a crip course two quarters away. In a way he is ''king on the mountain." But to the senior, this last year is a form of triumph. It is a testimony that he has been through one of the hardest engineering schools in the country. It means that next year he will be on his own and freed from this one responsibility only to enter into new and bigger ones. To the senior this last year is really nothing but the end of the beginning. SENIOR CLASS of 1956

Last fall, when looking around for ideas for our book, we hit upon the thought that the one big thing needed in the Blue Print was a change. And so we changed it right down to the basic organization of the book. Breaking away from the past, we divided the book up into three main sec- tions: Fall, Winter and Spring. The old sections were then. grouped under these three main headings. The features section, long a predominant part of the book, was dispersed throughout the book and treated chronologically under the large sections. We also believed that bigger type and pic- tures were in order and so this was included in the plans. The much used color splotches were excluded in favor of simpler and just as attractive non-color pages. We believe that the change has been for the good and we hope that you think so too.

What is a yearbook? It has been said many times that it is a years activities caught between two covers. This is true. But to us, the staff of the 1956 Blue Print, our yearbook is more. It is something that we have watched grow out of a stack of pictures and a pile of rosters. To us it is almost alive and we feel that it is part of us. It is our talents, thoughts and inspirations. It is also our mistakes and faults. But it is us and we feel close to it.

A lot of credit must be given for this years Blue Print. Business Manager Charles Cobb and his staff combined ef- forts to sell the largest volume of ads in the history of the Blue Print. Managing Editor Joe Pinnell worked long and hard in developing a new staff to do nothing but write. All of the section editors did line jobs and the largest part of the book is due to their hard work. This is our book. We have given ourselves to it and it is part of us. But now we give it to you and we hope that you like it.
