Title: Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal Presented a Statement of the Estimated Receipt and Expenditure of the Government of India for the Year 2013-14 in Respect of Railways
> Title: Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal presented a statement of the estimated receipt and expenditure of the Government of India for the year 2013-14 in respect of Railways. THE MINISTER OF RAILWAYS (SHRI PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL): . Madam Speaker, I rise to present before this august House the Revised Estimates for 2012-13 and a statement of estimated receipts and expenditure for 2013-14. ...(Interruptions) अय महोदया : या कर रह े ह, अब आप शोर य मचा रह े ह ...(Interruptions) SHRI PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL: I do so with mixed feelings crossing my mind. While I have a feeling of a colossus today, it is only ephemeral and is instantaneously overtaken by a sense of humility. Democracy gives wings to the wingless, cautioning us all the while, that howsoever high or wide our flight may be, we must remain connected to the ground. For giving me this opportunity, I am grateful to the Hon'ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the UPA Chairperson, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and pay my homage to the sacred memory of Sh. Rajiv Gandhi who introduced me to the portals of the highest Temple of Indian democracy. Madam Speaker, as I proceed, my thought goes to a particularly severe cold spell during the recent winter, when it was snowing heavily in Kashmir valley, and suspension of road and air services had brought life to a grinding halt. Photographs appearing in Newspapers showing a train covered with snow emerging from a similar white background, carrying passengers travelling over the recently commissioned Qazigund - Baramulla section instilled in me a sense of immense pride. -

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE (SHRI RAJ NATH SINGH) responding to the issue raised by several hon. Members, said: It is not that the farmers have been pushed to the pitiable condition over the past four to five years alone. The miserable condition of the farmers is largely attributed to those who have been in power for long. I, however, want to place on record that our Government has been making every effort to double the farmers' income. We have enhanced the Minimum Support Price and did take a decision to provide an amount of Rs.6000/- to each and every farmer under Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana irrespective of the parcel of land under his possession and have brought it into force. This * Hon. Members may kindly let us know immediately the choice of language (Hindi or English) for obtaining Synopsis of Lok Sabha Debates. initiative has led to increase in farmers' income by 20 to 25 per cent. Speech of Mamata Banerjee Introducing the Railway Budget 2011-12 25Th February 2011
Speech of Mamata Banerjee introducing the Railway Budget 2011-12 25th February 2011 1. Madam Speaker, I rise to present before this august House the Revised Estimates for 2010-11 and the estimated receipts and expenditure for 2011-12. I deem it an honour to present the third Railway Budget under the kind guidance of the hon'ble Prime Minister. I profusely thank the Finance Minster for his continued support and encouragement to the railways. 2. As the hon’ble members are aware, the wheels of the railways continue to move 24 hours, all 365 days. Railway’s services are comparable to emergency services, required all the time. I am proud of the 14 lakh members of my railway family, who toil day and night with unparalleled dedication. I am also grateful to all passengers without whose cooperation and consideration, we could not have run this vast system. I have also received unstinted support from our two recognised federations and staff and officers’ associations. 3. Madam, rail transportation is vitally interlinked with the economic development of the country. With the economy slated to grow at a rate of 8-9%, it is imperative that the railways grow at an even faster pace. I see the railways as an artery of this pulsating nation. Our lines touch the lives of humble people in tiny villages, as they touch the lives of those in the bustling metropolises. 4. We are taking a two-pronged approach, scripted on the one hand, by a sustainable, efficient and rapidly growing Indian Railways, and on the other, by an acute sense of social responsibility towards the common people of this nation. -
Faqs – Bengaluru Commuter Rail
2012 FAQs – Bengaluru Commuter Rail Praja-RAAG @www.praja.in FAQs – Bengaluru Commuter Rail Service What is Bengaluru Commuter Rail Service? It is a local train service that is being proposed to be run on existing railway lines that passes through city centers and connecting the suburbs & towns around Bengaluru. The proposal is to run the local train service on the lines of local train service in Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. What does CRS stand for? Commuter Rail Service. It is also referred to as ‘Suburban’ train service. Why does Bengaluru need CRS? The population of the Bengaluru Urban area grew by 35% in the 1991-2001 decade and by about 47% in the 2001-11 time periods. In order to cope with this growth the government has invested heavily. BMTC has added 3500 buses from 2006-07 to early 2011. Huge amounts of money have been invested in upgrading roads, building grade separators, the B-TRAC project and most recently for the Metro rail project which will add 115 Kms of mass transit (phase-I and phase II combined) for a total estimated cost of 38,000 Crores. However, most experts are in agreement that even with the Metro fully operational, Bengaluru's public transport requirements are going to continue to exceed the combined capacity of BMTC and Namma Metro. Here is where commuter rail comes in. Who will be the beneficiaries of CRS? Unlike other PT systems like BMTC, Metro, Monorail, HSRL which are meant to be serving city center and its limits, CRS will serve those who live: inside the City Limits in the city outskirts, Suburbs In Towns and hamlets around Bengaluru How does Bengaluru City will benefit from CRS inside the city limits? CRS running within the heart of the city can serve as an alternate route for residents in the heart of the city to commute to their work centers be it IT hubs such Electronics City, ITPL and Outer Ring Road or industrial and manufacturing hubs such as Peenya or Bommasandra and even traveling to towns like Tumkur, Hosur etc. -

Indian Railways Budget Speech 2005-06 744 Speech of Shri Lalu
Indian Railways Budget Speech 2005-06 Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad Introducing the Railway Budget for 2005-06, on 26 th February 2005. Mr. Speaker, 1. Sir, I rise to present the Budget Estimates for 2005-06 for the Indian Railways. I am presenting this budget at a point in time when the Indian economy reflects a vibrant growth. The Tenth Plan envisages an economic growth of eight per cent. This requires significant investment in infrastructure, of which railways are important and integral part, through larger public and private investment. This also needs greater efficiency in these sectors and sound fiscal management for financial viability. 2. Indian Railways have a critical role in ensuring the continued economic development of the country. We have drawn up an ambitious plan for meeting the increasing and emerging demands of the economy through the provision of world-class infrastructure. We will work not only towards streamlining the passenger services further and ensuring a palpable improvement in the quality of passenger services but also initiate a gamut of commercial, operational and investment – oriented initiatives in the freight sector thereby doing everything possible to improve Railways’ share in the transport sector. I shall outline these policy decisions in the course of my speech. Review of Physical and Financial Performance in 2004-05 3. Sir, when I presented the first railway budget of the United Progressive Alliance Government, the so called intelligentsia had criticized it as a populist one since I had not increased railway fares and freight. I have immense pleasure in reporting to this August House that with the untiring efforts of lakhs of railway employees, the physical as well as financial performance of Railways in the first nine months of the current financial year has been excellent, thereby belying this criticism. -

Above all, I am grateful to as it is only because of their blessings that I have been able to make it to this Parliament. , . 4. Madam Speaker, when I look at the list of illustrious leaders of this country who had donned the mantle of Indian Railways right from Sh. Asaf Ali to Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri, to Sh. Jagjivan Ram ji, to Sh. Gulzari Lal Nanda, Sh. Kamalapati Tripathi, Sh. Madhu Dandavate to Mamata Banerjee, I find myself nowhere near their stature. But I have certainly tried to take lessons from the pages of history and from their contribution to this great institution. I am grateful to Mamata Banerjee for giving vision to railways in her Vision 2020 document, which has guided me immensely in framing the roadmap for carrying forward the task. -
