[3] Teaching & Learning - Best Practice :: ‘SEAL’ Title of the Practice Sessions for Enhancing the Ability through Learning (SEAL) 2. Goal The aim was to realize the vision and mission of the college and contribute towards the all round development of the learners. Along with education there is a dire necessity now to master soft skills, groom one's personality and also improve communicative proficiency. The aim was to train the students for the competitive market and help them overcome their fear of public speaking, English language speaking and also to a certain extent help them become conscious of the professional image as required in the modern world. 3. The Context The major population of the college is from Varachha, Ved Road, and Amroli areas and most of the students come from a lower middle class background where the first generation is not highly educated. It was marked that though the students worked hard but they lacked in their presentation of soft skills and communicative skills. Head of the institute in order to add to their existing knowledge decided to introduce Ability Enhancing Lecture Sessions in each class for 1 hour per day. 4. The Practice This practice was started this year in 2015-16. It was implemented in the following manner: - Time table was planned accordingly. - Secondly, young budding fresh pass outs were given an opportunity to conduct lectures. It gave the young post graduates a chance to teach and the learners a chance to gain some expertise. - As per the subject, topics related to Personality Development, Grammar, Use of English in context, Interview Skills, Soft Skills etc. were allotted to the teachers. - Technology was used optimally to bring out the desired result. 5. Evidence of Success The college is the first of its kind in Surat city to practice this . Antony, Assistant Professor of English, bid a warm good bye to the institution as he opted for voluntary retirement from service in an application directed to Commissioner of Higher Education, Surat and the resignation was accepted w.e.f. 31 July,2015. He would always be remembered for his valuable contribution for College Accreditation & Re-accreditation by NAAC, the development of IQAC as the Co-ordinator, Implementation of UGC Schemes and realization of AAA-Chalo College Abhiyaan . His soft, kind and humane approach and his friendly behaviour with the students made him the most adorable teacher and the college would miss his acumen skills, soft spoken and diligent mannerisms and devotion towards his profession. He leaves behind a bunch of memories always worth to be treasured.

I Want to Fly - Radhika Sonavane S.Y.B.Com.-Sem3-Div 2-256

I Want to Fly

in the Sky.

Give wings to my ambitions,

overcome my problems and fears.

I want to reach the sky,

and find my way.

I represent the new generation,

like beams of morning sun.

Have got new ideas & vision

and wish to have a mission for my country India.

Our Problems are like dark night,

we need to change it into bright Light.

[22] “ I started my own Business and I am proud of it” -Jitesh Dudhetra

Confesses 19 year old Jitesh Dudhetra who at a very young age dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur and realized his aim with his effort, dedication and commitment. T.Y.B.Com.-Div.4- 490 student candidly spoke in an exclusive chat with Prof. Ritu Agarwal Simple, regular and unpretentious Jitesh could be earning a profit of Rs. 10,000 per month was difficult for me to imagine. Sitting on the last bench and seeming less interested in lectures, he gave the impression of being an average student but a chance interaction with him made me realize that the youth of today is indeed noteworthy. He simply told his story of his own business. When asked how did you go about it and how did it all start , his reply was aptly suited to a college goer, “ Three of us met at a coffee shop-one an electronic engineer , another a commerce graduate and third still studying. First meeting we decided that we would do some online business”. Regarding the investment part, they decided that they would contact some companies and make a presentation. However with a sigh he tells that it did not materialize and finally his brother in-law who has a company decided to sponsor him. That was like an icing on the cake. He remarked, “ I could not let him down , so we started seriously contacting people( manufacturers, retail sellers), collected the information, data, the procedure of registration in Online Mega Stores like Shopclues, Paytm, Flipkart, Snapdeal and others”. He also added that they realized that they had to get VAT/TIN number before they could sell at a national level. The three of them did not give up and passed all the hurdles. For that they travelled to Delhi, Mumbai, got the licence, Registration number but even after all this they suffered a loss of Rs. 16000 in the first month. He with a heavy heart says, “ Even parents were losing hope but they now are very happy and that makes me proud.” They had to prepare an Excel sheet of all the 400 products they wanted to sell and also a zip file of the images of the products to be sold. It is only after one month that the products go Live he shared. He said that our choice was for branded products like Rayban sunglasses, Sony head phones, electronic items and sarees. He very candidly remarked, “We plan our profit margin nicely. Packaging charges, material charges etc. are all added together and we ensure that we get a good profit.” I could see a twinkle in his eyes and the daunting spirit to go on. I felt that he has a creative mind and business ideas are just bubbling to burst open. Meeting such young people gives me a hope that skill lies in nurturing these talents and recognizing their potential. Who knows that a girl or a boy sitting in one of the classrooms one day shines as a business tycoon! With many blessings in my heart and a desire to see him reaching for the stars I just hope that many young students read this and get inspired to do something new and innovative.

[23] "All Glory Comes from Daring to Begin" Ms. Manisha C. Dayma T.Y.B.COM - Sem 5-Div 4-547

However mean your life is, meet it & live it, do not shun it.

Life is not a bed of roses, there are thorns also. The essence of life lies in living the life under the most difficult situations. Cowards are the ones who commit suicide because they are not brave enough to face the adversities of the world. When life is difficult, it is the true test of character. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. One should learn to face life and we should not give up even if we are going through a bad phase. Life is like a sea-saw. The art is to be ready for any situation, when good times come we should enjoy it and when the bad times come we should be cautious and try to rise above the tides. We get only one life, so we can't just call it mean. We have to learn to accept it as it is given to us.Let me share with you a story of a family, wherein the father a drunkard had two sons. They had a hard time concentrating on their studies. The father came home and harassed everyone. The younger son went the father's way blaming his life for the turn of events. The elder son studied hard and became an engineer. He decided never to become like his father & he changed the course of his life. This small story highlights one important aspect & that is: “Every man is the architect of his own fortune” Every person makes his own destiny with the help of his capabilities, skill, knowledge and help from soceity and the Almighty. However, we find many people wasting their efforts and energy on useless things. There is no easy road to success , it comes only with sheer hard work and planning. One should not waste precious time on frivolous activities, and carry over spilt milk later. Usually we blame our failures and misfortunes on to bad luck. What we tend to forget is that we ourselves are to blamed. Such people ignore the opportunities that come their way and do not have a proper goal in life. God throws ample opportunities but man should know how to take advantage of it. Even if there are setbacks they need to be taken in one's stride. We cannot blame fate, luck or soceity for our failures. We make our own destinies and we need to carve a niche for ourselves in the world. “Never fear shadows...... that always means there is a light shining somewhere.”

[24] Love limb Ms. Jhanvi Gami T.Y.B.Com.-Sem 5-Div-5- 676

He is brown, One to save my crown. Made me the beauty, Had all for duty. Is the one to fix.

My best friend not to be shared, Is the one who cares. Competes, to make me win, Has the bottle just to spin.

Have many things to say, Said a little on the bay. Is hard at heart, But cried at last. Can't afford to let him go, He is my sweet brother.. my bro.
