A media company such as TV Globo has an ongoing challenge that isn’t al- ways visible - to seek excellence, the best results and the best practices beyond what appears on your screen, which is our great showcase. In other words, to create a series of mechanisms that do not appear to the eyes of the general public, but that are fundamental to the company through the programs it broadcasts, ful- filling its mission to inform, entertain and educate with the high quality standards we strive for. In this highly complex context, the concept of sustainable management has gained ground. In fact, it has translated and exposed many of the challenges that corporations face or should face to guar- antee the success of their strategies. In our Social Initiatives Report 2010, we seek to expose some of the initiatives that help us build a ratings and market leading television network in a setting under constant transformation, impacted by new technologies, platforms and con- sumption habits. The strengthening of this leadership - which today places us as the third larg- est television network in the world - entails a series of ongoing initiatives in the eco- nomic, social and environmental fields, all of which converging towards people, which is what truly matters. At one end, we have the talent of our teams as bal- last and, on the other, the viewers, with their untouchable and legitimate right to choose. We believe - and aim to demon- strate through our report - that this body of social initiatives has a decisive contri- bution in making this bridge more solid and relevant.

The quest for sustainability is present in every stage of production, with constant improvement and the adoption of innova- tive practices that reach beyond legal ob- ligations, even though the TV segment is considered low impact.
